Interesting that the Lakers aren’t fully healthy right now, still no Vando or Woods

So they still maybe another gear that we haven’t seen

Dude way too early and the West is stacked.

Im honestly just happy we look like an actual NBA team and not a team reliant on AD and Lebron to save our asses 24/7

JJ Reddick thing is a project. I dont see us winning a title or contending. What i'd want is for this team to finally build a foundation ffs.

I'd gladly eat crow but thats the way i look at it. We are missing pieces to be real contenders.

^ Lets say hypothetically Bron can play at last years level. I think if that were the case, I really do think we are contenders especially if Vanderbilt eventually finds the rhythm that he had right before he got reinjured.

Boston is pretty, pretty good

GSW are playing very well to start the season as well.

Deepest bench in the league, and Buddy Hield going to be 6MOTY if this keeps up by a landslide.

Running a 12 man rotation, old school Spurs style.

Perimeter defense is not good enough to contend. They need to make a move or two to be contenders.

The Lakers played like sh*t half the game and still beat a good Sacramento team that gave us fits last year.

One thing I like about the way JJ coaches is if someone is stinking up the floor he pulls them quickly, then inserts them back in the game when things calm down. He doesn't seem to worry about hurt feelings in the moment.

The bench contributed nothing except for Knecht and we still scored 131 points.

A lot of room for growth and we beat three good teams.

If the bench starts scoring and we get back Vando and Wood, I don't see why we wouldn't be contenders.

Reaves played atrociously in the first half.

All these problems and we still won.

It was a good win but AD and Bron didn't miss a shot in the 4th and there was a 21-0 run. Those three things will probably not happen again in the season.

If we stay healthy, we are on our way to contender status.

I do want to see more though, against other matchups.

JJ has just done a great job with what's given to him instead of complaining about the lack of personnel. Jax has been playing great under JJ.

Way too early to tell, we will need to wait for some regression to the mean for the team and overall league. Recall that Utah just a few seasons ago was the West #1 after the first 10ish games. It was the first after the Mitchell/Gobert purge IIRC.

They have also not yet played on the road and we need more from the bench amongst other things already mentioned here. I am encouraged though by JJ's coaching.

Overall though, I think they can be in position to become contenders with some mid-season deals. Thing is...are they (or anybody) on Boston's level?

I think it depends on the brackets and who they play..last year they had a very easy path

Still think we'll need to make a trade to shore up our perimeter defense.

Its just the reality. One of AR or DLO needs to go and I want to keep AR. You cant have 60+ minutes a night of bad guard defense between both of them and expect to compete with Boston (who is the measuring stick this season)

Contenders if we can add Kessler or Jonas (something of that type) to shore up the 5 spot.

This team has the talent and right mix, just mixing missing that 5.

All Star leaders - LBJ & AD

Shooting talent - AR, DLO, Knecht

Scrappy Role players - Rui, Gabe, Vando, Christie, Jaxson

DLo and Reaves beat Boston last year without AD or Bron.

Those two are friends and have good chemistry.

If we keep winning, why would we blow this up?

I think the team defense is much improved and I would not trade either as long as we keep winning.

It’d be “too early “ if they were 0-3 so the correct answer for the 3-0 start is too early. Step in the right direction for sure tho

I was cursing under my breath when we lost two 15 point leads.

Difference is we came back and won.

I get the point that Bron had that fluky three minute hot streak where he became Steph, but we overcame some really sloppy play that should have never happened either.

JJ did subtle things like pull Reaves when he was a turnover machine. He pulls DLo when he sees him contributing nothing. He left Knecht in when Max wasn't doing much.

Ham would just let some of this sh*t ride without making adjustments.

I don't feel as helpless watching this team so far. I feel like someone is in charge and will try to fix the problems immediately instead of waiting until the game is lost.

This is my stance too since watching team performance after the Westbrook trade. I can’t specifically identify why…as imo it doesn’t show up on paper…but the starters Dlo/AR/LBJ/Rui/AD have won an impressive amount of games with impressive wins against quality teams. Perhaps the Lakers can see what Vando/Wood can do if they come back, and Knecht/Hayes seem useful, but I’d attempt to ship out any of the useless looking rest of them…Vincent/MaxChris/JHS/CamRed/MaxLew with picks…before moving any of the starters.

I do see those starters as contenders but unfortunately don’t consider them to have a good enough chance to win it all. I think an addition capable of being a 3rd option at times with Dlo/AR/Rui, defense in the backcourt and a bruiser C is needed to actually win a title.

Gabe is reminding me a lot of Dinwiddie. A scrappy, likeable player but you are almost shocked when he hits a three.

I'm good with getting rid of anyone on your list.

Everyone else I'm keeping right now.
