Yeah I really don’t like how this is looking. 4 walks now too and missing with way too many pitches. |

Ugh. 5 walks. Forget going 4 or 5 innings. This should be his last inning and I don’t even know if he will survive this.
Reminds me of Yamamoto last year. I expect Sasaki to look much sharper in April like Yamamoto did. |

Fortunately we don’t have to worry about saving the bullpen.
Of course when I say don’t let him pitch 4 innings he throws some of the best pitches he has thrown today and strikes out 2 hitters. |

Got out of it cheaply enough. At least his pitch count isn't that elevated so he should start the next inning. |

That was fun! Kiké Tommy and Sho go yard. Sasaki with an epic finish. Much better than the first game. Honestly if you’re going to make these teams travel so far at least make it a 3 or 4 game set. The first game is always a dud. |

- Good to be 2-0 to start the year.
- Our BP is going to be heavily worked early in the year with our 5 man rotation:
Quote: | 1) Glasnow: only guy who can be counted on to give us length: 6-7ip per start
2) Yamamoto: should improve this year. I think he gives us 6ip per start.
3) Snell: notorious for being a 5ip pitcher.
4) Sasaki: probably a 4-5ip pitcher until he finds his groove. Even then, we’re going to want to limit his innings this year.
5) May: similar to Sasaki after 2 TJS’s. 4-5ip with the occasional 6ip, and the occasional 2-3ip as well.

Alex Verdugo signed with the Braves. 1 year, $1.5M.
Still remarkable that we traded him as the "centerpiece" of the Mookie deal. |

Missed the openers due to 3am starts on work nights but damn the injury bug is already rearing it's ugly head, Freddie, Will and a severely ill Mookie besides half the pitching staff on the mend. This is probably gonna be another sluggish April as we will need time to tune up and recover. Doubt we hit 120 wins and break records but should still handle the division easily. |

Watched the highlights of the Japan series. Yamamoto looks so confident. Lase season and post season did wonders for him. He looks like a legit ace that can contend for the Cy Young, Sasaki on the other hand looks to be a project. Has electric stuff but he needs more experience. |

If the team gets 120 wins peope will use that to make their case that things are so unfair and that will add to the momentum to try and make it harder for our team to win in the future. The other owners will demand they have an equal chance and cry about how unfair it is that the Dodgers could be so good. They are doing this already, but 120 win season is so dominant that the outcry will be much worse.
In any case, it’s so rare for everything to go to plan and there are reasons why 120 wins never happens. The 1906 Cubs likely would have done it if they played 162 game season but then they lost the World Series (and back then they only needed to win 1 series to be champs and they STILL lost).
I may not even want it to happen. Patriots were 16-0 (and eventually 18-0 before losing). Warriors won 73 games. Mariners and 1906 Cubs won 116 games. The one thing those teams have in common is no rings during those years. |

I have wondered how many games the team would win if Ohtani, Mookie and Freeman all have great seasons, the rest of the lineup does okay and the pitching is great. But even that doesn’t guarantee that they will even be healthy in October. |

Yeah I agree I think Yama is kinda flying under the radar right now around the league because we are distracting them with: Snell acquisition, Sasaki, Ohtani coming back to pitch this year and a healthy Glasnow. He might be our ace this year.
Keep in mind I said the same thing about Bobby Miller last year...umm yeah maybe I should retract my statement |

Not that I have any disagreement whatsoever with what you're saying, but before the 73-win Warriors, the 72-10 Bulls did win a championship in that season.
I couldn't care less about hitting a certain number of wins or setting a record for wins. Only the WS matters. They just need to make the playoffs healthy and playing good ball. We've seen the same thing several times from the Dodgers in the past 12-13 seasons where they go on an incredible streak in the summer and finish the RS with a top record, but come October they falter because they peaked too early (or got hurt).
There's already going to be a big enough target on their back because of how stacked the team is. If they get 110+ wins, all the playoff opponents are certainly going to be more amped up. |

For all of what you say, what must be emphasized, especially in baseball where pitching in a short series can dominate, the best team (regular season or on paper) does not always win.
And I'll state once again my somewhat unique but long held philosophy, that the regular season matters, and that it is a treat to enjoy this endurance challenge. It is here that 60 HRs or a 50/50 season or a 20 game winner or a 56 game hitting streak or 104 stolen bases, matter. Sure, every team and every fan wants theirs to win it all, but that 162 games of everyday box scores and all this entails should be enjoyed and appreciated for what is gives us. I enjoyed reading about the first two games, yes, largely because the Dodgers won, but I have 160 more to look forward to and who knows what records might be set or milestones accomplished.
As is attributed to Homer: It is the journey that counts, not the destination. _________________ Hey Doge, ever hear of “measure twice, cut once?” It is not cut first and measure later. |

I’m hopeful Sasaki just needs a little more time (like for spring training to finish at least). The season started ridiculously early and the Cubs starters looked sloppy too. Sasaki didn’t walk many hitters in the Japanese league.
Imanaga never walked 4 hitters in any of his 29 starts last season. He walked 3 hitters twice. Then he walks 4 hitters in 4 innings in his first start this season. No wonder why he looked frustrated.
Even Yamamoto didn’t look sharp his first few innings and that was light years better than his first start last season, which was also during a time when other teams were still in spring training. |

Also feels weird to be 2-0 before everyone starts playing every day. But I’ll take it. I still don’t like the early starts but at least it worked out. |

Quote: | MLB suspends Julio Urías for second violation of policy against domestic violence
Former Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías was suspended through the All-Star break this season for a second violation of the league’s policy against domestic violence and sexual assault.
Under the discipline, announced Friday by Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred, Urías will be reinstated on July 17. As of that date, he would be eligible to sign with any major league team.
|
Unpopular opinion:
I’m actually rooting for the guy. I don’t believe in death sentences.
I believe in serving ur punishment, whatever is fair and then u get another chance.
Everyone deserves a right to make a living. That’s how society is. If Urias was an engineer, he’d definitely get another chance.
If he was an NFL or NBA player, he’d definitely get another chance. MLB just happens to have the strictest policy against DV.
I don’t know where you draw the line between what’s fair or unfair, but a lifetime ban seems to be way extreme on the unfair side, to me.
Right now, I think Urias is facing a lifetime ban, unofficially. He might be eligible to sign with a team after the All Star break, but realistically, I see his situation playing out like Bauer’s. |
