5-0 when he is starting. Again why he is just starting when someone from usual starters are out? |

Report says ankle injury... Just probably rest same as Gabe.
Maybe JJ was trying to see how this team defend without 2 of his top defenders. |

Rest up for the all star break? My guess is an ankle injury. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Quote: | Finney-Smith is a versatile, defensive-minded wing who can guard multiple positions, knock down open shots, and has plenty of playoff experience. He also is a great fit next to Doncic as the two played together with the Dallas Mavericks and developed a close friendship. But even if the Doncic trade never happened, joining the Lakers is still a dream come true for Finney-Smith as he revealed in a Lakers’ digital interview that the purple and gold was his favorite team growing up in Virginia: “It means a lot to put on a Lakers jersey because the Lakers was my favorite team. Being from Virginia, liking the Lakers was a little rough because you either loved the Lakers or you hate them. I’m happy I get to live out my dream.” – via Lakers Nation

I think he has one really good extension worth of basketball left in him for sure. I'd love to see a 2-3 Year deal considering he's turning 32 this Season. He's our most important role player imo considering he can play both ends at a high level and doesn't need the ball in his hands while maintaining the attention of a defender at all times. He's the exact kind of role player you can never have enough of.
Him, Vando and Gabe especially are such a fun change of pace from our starting lineup and can just wreck havoc defensively even though I still believe our starting lineup would be best with him in it.
I'm guessing they wait until the off Season to really explore a reup though considering there could potentially be some big changes to the role players depending how we finish this Season and whatever trades are on the table with the somewhat solid assets we have at our disposal. |

Last 2 games stats
DFS
11 PPG
5.5 RPG
8/14 fg (57%)
6/11 3fg (54%)
Rui
11.5 ppg
10 rpg
10/23 fg (44%)
1/11 3fg (9%)
If this is not enough for JJ to start DFS and bench rui. I dont think its gonna happen in the future.. |

Really love DFS. I can see why he was popular. I never paid much attention to him before he came here, but boy was I missing out. He really changes a lot of things for us |

Both because you have their bird rights and push Vando and Kleiber out for money or something useful along with Dalton, the pick, and the swap |

Finney-Smith has been a force for good throughout his brief Lakers tenure. He's appeared in 19 of a possible 23 games, and has made the Lakers a certifiably elite team whenever he's been on the court—a seemingly hyperbolic but truthfully accurate statement.
The Lakers are outscoring opponents by 15.2 points per 100 possessions when Finney-Smith is on the floor and are being outscored by 2.3 when he isn't.
Over his past seven appearances, however, Finney-Smith has increased his output to 8.9 points per game on a slash line of .511/.438/1.000.
That may not be mind-blowing production, but for a primarily off-ball player who's still within his first 20 games with a new team, it's an impressive step forward. In addition to his pure scoring numbers, Finney-Smith has become remarkably efficient and meaningfully productive in two key areas on offense.
For one, Finney-Smith is burying 2.0 three-point field goals per outing over his past seven games while shooting the aforementioned 43.8 percent from beyond the arc.
A perhaps unexpected development has been how Finney-Smith has balanced his off-ball play with an unselfish approach when the ball is in his hands. He's managed to average 2.3 assists per game over his past seven appearances after tallying just 0.8 dimes per showing through his first 12 in Los Angeles.
--------------------
DFS has a $15m player option for next year, and the rumors are that he's planning on declining it..
Hopefully, the Lakers can resign him
he's kind of the perfect complementary player for the Lakers _________________ Never argue with a fool - listeners can't tell you apart

Exactly… Both are needed on this team. Who cares who starts.

DFS was an unsung hero last night. So good at switching and defending. Just scrappy, he didn't score much but he had his hands everywhere.
I really love having DFS & Vando out there together switching and defending. You mix in a little guy like Gabe and you got some DAWGS!!! |

He said he feels like he’s been rushing some shots and needs to take his time. |

End of the year plan to look at the shot quality stats (contested v open v wide open). Expect to lap the field on wide open frequency. |

When DFS & Vando start swarming defensively, they energize the entire team.
Their tenacious defensive pressure opens up the offense on the other end. It's a thing of beauty. |

He’s shooting 39% from deep with us? Granted he had a bad shooting night last game but it isn’t the norm _________________ #18 next... |
