Thanks, EP

I've never seen Kessler play, but from what I've read and heard, it's a very favorable trade because we finally pair AD w/a big who rebounds, defends and takes on the other team's big.

The only reason we're in this position is because of waste management (nothing for Randle, the 7th pick in his draft, and still being traded for value) and horrible trades (Westbrook) that sent out the kind of players that we've spent precious time trying to replace.

At least in this scenario we still have assets (frp & two srps) to bolster our depth.

My mantra: "All in, or ship it out!"

I hear you on all that

Here's my follow-up to it:

Latest @BleacherReport Imagining an Aggressive 8-Player Los Angeles Lakers Trade - walking the "all-in" path for LAL (one I may not fully endorse) and Utah (banking on the Lakers being dreadful post-LeBron)

Ep- what you paint is grim - this made me laugh”Add in that Sexton is with Klutch Sports Group, the same agency that represents LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and it's feasible the Lakers' stars pressure the team into acquiring the 26-year-old guard. James' support would be vital. With Sexton earning up to $19.5 million (with incentives) next season, James would need to opt out of his $52.6 million for 2025-26.”

And this made me cry - “The Jazz fully invest in the Lakers being a disaster after James retires. L.A. had a six-season playoff drought the years after Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles' tendon in 2013. Utah might prefer to move Jordan Clarkson over Sexton, but the combination with Kessler gives the franchise three unprotected firsts from the Lakers (2027, 2029, 2031).”

If I’m trading future first round picks it has to be for a player who will be here in the future.

If Sexton would be that ball-handling guard we need, I would probably do the trade Pincus proposed in the second article. Sexton may be the only viable option to fill our need for a true ball-handling guard who can create pace and another scoring threat.

I don't hate it and don't love it -I could see why they would or wouldn't do it - it's not "awful" it's not "great"

Looked at Kesslers numbers and they are NOT "smooth as silk", in fact they are kinda low.

I also don't recall his play, but he comes cheap, and that's the reason the Lakers are in this mess now, cause they invest in CHEAP centers,

What else ya got?

I think Emplay's third part in this series comes out Wednesday. I'm not for mortgaging future picks for a veteran center who won't be part of the rebuild. Depends on the deal and the player.

I like DeAndre Jordan as a backup for AD. He's doing a good job in Denver

Sexton and Kessler are keystones/foundation of the Lakers' future success while helping LBJ/AD get their next ring????

Sexton plays good enough to play defense during clutch time and with AR on the floor

A rule of thumb is that a good defender needs to have at least 2/3 of the following:
+ size
+ bbIQ
+ quickness

Sexton only checks one of these boxes, so he is not a good defender/player to play opposite AR.

Would Kessler be content being the backup center since many believe he is a starting center

How would Kessler play with AD at the 4
