Growing too, when I first saw it on TV it was @ 600 acres, within a few minutes it jumped to 700, checked in later and it was at 1200, a few minutes ago, well over 2,200..
If the wind keeps up over night, by the time we wake-up it could be 4,000 or more...
My daughter works at a retirement community in the foothills off the 210 in Bradbury/Monrovia area. She is "on-call" to help with an evacuation if they get the orders. I plan on taking her and helping out, ironically I used to work there 25+ years ago. No way in hell am I letting her do that without being nearby.
Hope everyone is out of harms way. These winds need to die down and we need some damn rain. _________________ "No amount of money ever bought a second of time."

Looking at the footage from Pali, it’s obvious that the devastation is going to be vast. I am very familiar with that area having grown up in Santa Monica and my kids went to Revere and Pali. I’ve seen so many shots of places I know exactly where they are and I can how much is destroyed; landmarks, businesses we have frequented, my kid’s school. I can tell for sure one of my daughter’s friend’s house is gone. I’m 90% sure another person we know’s house is gone because the feed I was watching said the intersection they were showing and most of the houses were engulfed; if it wasn’t already burned down, it will be by morning.
This isn’t the first fire I have seen ravage home ground and friends and family, but it’s pretty clear this is likely the worst. _________________ Code 8647

Sorry to everyone who might be suffering here to offer a political slant, but it's good that Biden is in charge at the moment, so that we don't have to hear someone talk about cleaning the floor or possibly trying to bribe the state to offer federal assistance. _________________ Hey Doge, ever hear of “measure twice, cut once?” It is not cut first and measure later.

Biden being there created a no fly zone early in the fire when winds would still allow flight. So helicopters and fire tenders remained in the ground. Not so good. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

I don't get SoCal (or Fox much for that matter) news, so, if true and not some exaggeration talking point, then that was a miscalculation. _________________ Hey Doge, ever hear of “measure twice, cut once?” It is not cut first and measure later.

They were flying water drops early in the fire until the aircraft were grounded because the wind speeds increased too much to fly. _________________ Code 8647

I live about 7 miles from downtown LA and the smoke has the sky dark gray here. You can't see the sky. Those fires are doing serious damage.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be
because we destroyed ourselves.
Wow didn't know the Getty Villa was touched, one of my favorite museums. Really hope everyone is okay though, these winds are insane. Stay safe everybody

And Biden didn't fly in for a photo op, he was on a previously scheduled trip to dedicate a national monument in Joshua. And from reading reports, it seems the Palisades fire started after Biden had already landed. In fact, Biden scuttled his schedule to stay on the ground in L.A. so as NOT to interfere with fire fighting. Leave it to the usual suspects to twist things. _________________ Don't blame me. It's a shame that Rick Caruso is calling in to the local news stations to politicize this disaster right as it's going on, especially since his son and daughter have been affected. No (bleep) class, but that's no surprise. _________________ Code 8647

Took my daughter into work at 6am so they could start to evacuate the residents.
Some of the power had gone out but they had things under control for the most part.
Could see flames in the mountains on our drive up. Never had fires this close to home before. My work office in Pasadena is shut down. Working from home today. Hard to concentrate though. _________________ "No amount of money ever bought a second of time."

(So back here we go).
I found this on YouTube. Is there any truth to it?

There are several reasons that the hill areas surrounding the Palisades and Malibu aren't cleared. The area is a mix of city, county and state land. Some is parkland (and controlled by the state) and is preserved to protect local wildlife and give it a habitat. The idea Caruso is trying to claim that the task of clearing the public lands is willfully neglected by Bass and previous LA mayor's is a misrepresentation. _________________ Code 8647

The morning news just stated that there is a no fly order for media so they can’t get aerial footage. Just for media.
Good. Media almost took out one of the tankers in the Airport fire a few months ago. They should have a single media aircraft that works with the fire crew to get a feed for all Media outlets.
