I say get Vucevic and just destroy teams with offense the way the 2023 Nuggets did while relying on a few key guys for the defense. Lets not forget the 2023 Lakers by the time they had reached the WCF, WERE the strongest defensive team in the league that literally could have strangled the life out of literally EVERY OTHER TEAM in the league but ran into the one team that showed that when the offense is too good, your defense does not matter. Its kinda like Mutombo guarding Shaq in 2001 and Robinson guarding Hakeem in 1995. Both top, apex literally the best defenders in the league at the time may as well have been league average bums, it would have made 0 difference.
So we're not a contender this year. Are we a contender next year with Lebron still on the team? Most likely no. That's two years of Luka prime gone right there. Just saying. It's not easy to build a championship team. It could take a few years or more and by that time we might have wasted a lot of Luka's prime years already.
I’m not really sure why anyone would think this team isn’t a contender. I can see them beating anyone.

I think it’s the Westbrook trade hangover effect. The Lakers became the favorites to win the West after we traded for Brick. People are afraid of receipts being pulled if they claim the Lakers are contenders and the team lays an egg. This team can absolutely be a contender this year as currently constructed. If we get Steven Adams, watch out.
I think people genuinely just don't understand how good Luka is. They probably wouldn't know how good Jokic is if he didn't kick our ass in the playoffs. Luka is on the same level. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points."

Exactly. Especially some here that act as if they never heard of the guy.
He’s top 3.

Like wake up and watch videos.
Objectively speaking there are 2 players that given their age are untouchable or so you would think: Wembanyama and Doncic.
I don’t think people understand. Jokic is number 1 but he could easily get traded in a couple of seasons because of his age.

The way Jokic plays basketball he'll be dominant for a damn long time.
Dude is the greatest offensive hub this game has ever seen in the center position.
Build a proper team around him and he'll dominate til his late 30s in my opinion.
See: Chamberlain, Wilton Norman. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

Wow. What an eye opener that Clippers game was. This team came out FIRED. UP.
.500 road team now. And the defense was swarming, no AD, no Max.
Pretty convincing argument that this team doesn't need to hurry into anything rash this week. They might need some insurance against the beefiest C's in the league, but no panic. Not when they can slap the Clippers silly like this.
Nice welcome to the Lakers game for Luka, can hardly wait to see him take the floor.

Attaining Luka still feels like a dream right now.
Same wow Factor signing Lebron
Same wow Factor signing Shaq (RIP JERRY WEST)
Same wow Factor I’m guessing for the generation reacting to Kareem getting traded to the Lakers
Yes, yes, and yes. Add to it landing Magic, with Boston getting Bird. Double wow after the NCAA championship that year. We knew we were in for a rivalry like no other.
I can assure you, getting Kareem after Wilt departed was this same level wow factor.
As was Wilt The Stilt coming out West to join the Lakers before that.
I am liking the JV trade option a little more. Use him against Jokic to lean on him and he's always been a good offensive rebounder.
He's averaging 11.5 ppg and 8.2 reb in 20 minutes.
That's 20/15 per36
I know he isn't much of a defender, but in the West I like him against Houston, Denver, LAC, and Minnesota. Need a big that weighs atleast 260 to muscle with those behemoths.

I think Cowherd got this one right. I don’t find Nico Harrison to be stupid whatsoever.
Owners (for whatever reasons) didn’t want to commit the $345M.
Yeah this reeks of Adelson through and through, not that I'm complaining about the Lakers being beneficiary of his decision.
What’s ironic about them being cheap is that the Venetian/Palazzo are such luxurious hotels with world class restaurants. I’m especially fond of The X Pot. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Me too, but x pot is owned by someone else, and it is overpriced. There are tons of similar quality hot pot in LA.
Adelson had no issues donating 200 mil to some party, and their goal is to legalize gambling in Texas.
