This is pretty funny

https://x.com/TheDunkCentral/status/1886498095753519272

“Even the Utah Jazz, the third team that facilitated the transaction by collecting two second-round picks for absorbing Jalen Hood-Schifino, didn't know Doncic and Davis were a part of the deal until about an hour before it was completed, league sources said. Even Jazz President, Danny Ainge, who hails from the Lakers' hated rival, the Boston Celtics, had only about 30 minutes notice, sources said, that Los Angeles was about to acquire Doncic to be the new face of its franchise. But by then it was too late to do much about it. NBA history was about to be altered.”

Even if Ainge didn't agree, they would have found someone else who would. It's basically free two 2nd rounders for absorbing JHS. Don't read too much into it.

How do you not know all the details of a trade you're a part of?

It's more about Ainge not knowing the details of the deal until the last second

You MISSED the FUNNIEST part:

Utah just had to complete a trade with the Clippers earlier Saturday morning to free up roster spots to take in another player. The last part of that deal was completed Saturday around the same time the Lakers and Knicks were tipping off in New York.

Ainge AND Lawrence Frank helped the Lakers get Luka!!!

You can pretty much forget about Kessler at this point.

2 second round picks to take a flier on a rookie with 3M expiring contract is verygood value...i am sure lots of other teams would have taken the offer.

Probably right, but it's sweeter that we had help from a Laker hater.

I don’t think I believe this and I don’t think Ainge would have cancelled the deal anyway. Someone else would have filled in.

See this is the delicious frosting on the cake. We could have gone several directions to get this done, but having these guys seal the deal only to find out when it was too late to stop it was pure style.

You know the most poetic part about getting Luka is?

The two biggest loudmouths who complained about the CP3 trade was Cuban and Dan Gilbert. We now have both Lebron AND Luka. Granted, Cuban is now a minority owner but the point still stands.

Also pretty cool that the Lakers drafted Bronny with a 2nd round pick they acquired via the Clippers.

A trade like the one the Lakers did with Utah I believe would have been considered a separate trade. There was no need to make it a "3 team deal." The Lakers were receiving nothing back from Utah and Utah was not sending anything to a third team. Thus, this trade could be considered a standalone trade. There would be no reason for Ainge to be involved in anything related to Dallas and Luka.
