Minnesota 89 LA Lakers 92
GameFlow
BoxScore
With the lead no bigger than 9 points by either team, the Lakers and TWolves had a real back and forth struggle tonight. In the end, the Lakers got the win by playing just enough defense (more than they had in the last two games) and grabbing enough rebounds to make up for all their turnovers.
The first quarter was marred by 9 Laker turnovers. Ronny Turiaf got his first career start and he played very nervously, losing the ball 3 times himself in 10 minutes. After giving up a 18-11 run in the 1st quarter, Lamar Odom and the 2nd unit responded with an 11-2 spurt in the 2nd to gain a tie. Lamar lead their scoring in the first half with 16 points.
The two teams exechanged runs and the lead serveral times, until the Lakers 5-0 run late in the 4th gave them the lead for good. Kobe Bryant stepped up his production in the second half with 19 points. The keys for the Lakers tonight were a little defense mixed with some very good rebounding. They grabbed 12 to Minnesota's 4 in the final period alone, 45 to 32 for the game, and 15 to 8 offensive.
Lamar finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. Kobe had 25 points and 3 assists. A nice game for Kwame Brown with 13 points and 9 rebounds. And Smush Parker scored 12, mainly driving to the hoop.
Off the bench, Luke Walton scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, 5 of those offensive. Brian Cook played just the 12 minutes of the 3rd quarter and scored 6 with 7 rebounds. Sasha Vujacic scored 5 and Andrew Bynum had 2 blocks in 10 minutes of play.

Thanks Pops! If we could only have this type of game from Kwame on a nightly basis.. he even made his FTs. _________________ #2 Lonzo

Luke Walton being able to score and rebound off the bench like he has lately has been a huge plus for the Lakers. Now if he could work on making better passing decisions and not picking up cheap fouls, we'd be in business.
I love Ronny, but he was way too cranked up tonight. Aside from turning the ball over, though, he did a few nice things while he was in there. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |
