What a difference 1 pick makes. I would have much rather had Shannon Brown. He could have been an absolute stud in our system.

White is gone now too. You knew he wasn't going to be around for us in the second round but I was hoping.

Portland has more trades coming. It's been strange but theyve picked up some talented players. Roy and Aldridge, that a pretty good 1st round and White in the 2nd. Theyve had a great night.

Have to disagree, gng930.

(1) Jordan is NOT offense only. He was coached two years by all-defense, all-the-time Ben Howland at UCLA. While his defense suffered from having two ankle sprains this year, he still played strong defnese in the Pac-10 and NCAA Tournaments. Many touted Farmar and Afflalo as the best DEFENSIVE backcourt in the country.

(2) The Lakers worked out Farmar TWICE for the draft. The last workout was YESTERDAY. The Lakers never worked Rush out ONCE prior to the draft.

Farmar is physcially stronger than most of the PGs in the draft. He is also adept playing without the ball as an off-guard, and can hit clutch shots. Imagine the toughenss of a healthy Derek Fisher with actual, honest-to-heaven point guard skills and solid athletic ability, combiend with the ability to create and/or score with 6 seconds left on the 24.

We got a good one.

For once, Mitch made a GOOD pick.

My bad MIM, I only looked at the DraftExpress links and they didn't list the Lakers. I take that one back.

Still think his defense is weak. They routinely had to move Farmar over to SG and play that 5-11 guy at point because Farmer was getting lit like a giant Christmas tree. Reminds of Deron Williams. College defensive schemes and oddly decent combine measurements masking lack of athleticism.

Also has a 42" vertical, that doesn't mean much, still nice to have though.

Is it possible he still ends up a Laker by season start?

Perhaps the ankle injuries made him appear less athletic. The Lakers may have stolen one.

farmar. its nice to finally have a true pointguard on the lakers. when was the last time we had a true pg? a long long time. he can improve his shooting hopefully but god, i just wish he had some defense. on top of that james white was just traded to indy.

Fair enough, my friend. I understand your cocnerns, gng, and I wouldn't have minded if we picked up Flight (who apprently just got traded to Indy?).

The thing is, we already have noted rocket scientists in Kwame and Smush. Farmar, while not a waterbug, is above-0average and flat-out KNOWS how to play. Comapratively, he's clearly more athletic at PG than our other non-Kobe "smart" player, Luke, is at SF. And we all know Luke can't hop that high.

Sad to see Bobby Jones go so early. However, if we need freakish speed on D, we may still be able to steal one with Hassan Adams. Yeah, he's got a fracture in his foot, but if he can recover cleanly, we may get a steal.

Barring that, I'd settle for Taj Gray or even Pittsnogle. Yeah, he's a face-up C/PF who prefers the outside shot, but at least he's 6-10, 255.
