Okay, over the weekend I went to Olvera Street and had the #1 Combo at El Cielito. That combo has three taquitos with their guacamole sauce mixed with beans and cheese. It's hard to beat those.
The thing about Olvera Street Taquitos is that the guacamole sauce is very thin and runny.
But let's hear your opinion of the best. Also who has the best guacamole? |

Can't get my favorites any more. When El Torito Grill first opened (I think at the time there was just one of them, and it was near South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa), they served duck taquitos, which were fantastic. |

Duck?!?!?!?!?!?! Sounds foofy, yet delicious!
Taquitos bring to mind one thing. Guacamole.
When Guacamole comes is involved, all bets are off! _________________

It's not a taquito-related question, but I am curious, when the Lakers hold a team to under 100 at home, the crowd gets a free taco. Who supplies that taco and are they any good? Is it a matter of any free taco is a good taco, or not? _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.

Considering that it once was the abomination that is Taco Bell's Chalupa, I'm thinking it's Taco Bell. _________________

Fans in attendance get a coupon for a free taco at Jack in the Box.
And no, it's not a matter of any free taco is a good taco. The "tacos" at Jack in the Box are not worthy of the name. They are an abomination. A greasy, fried-yet-rubbery corn tortilla is folded around some sort of seasoned beef mess along with shredded lettuce, hot sauce that is weaker than ketchup, and a slice of American cheese. That's not a taco, that's a hate crime.
I love the promotion and I love the way the fans go nuts for it, but it's more about the game than the taco. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

I beg to differ. In a town of sissy soy milk and california pizza kitchen, I think it's a matter of fans getting an excuse to eat some unhealthy food for once. Jack in the Box tacos PWN and so does Jack in the Box! _________________

I used to work for an insurance company that insured El Torito.....nobody that I wroked with would ever even step foot in El Torito after reading some of those claims! It's been years and I still won't eat there. _________________ "Kobe, Kobe, Kobe and some more Kobe, with a sprinkling of Kobe and a huge fat scoop of double Kobe with Kobe sprinkles and Kobe sauce"

I'll ignore the "sissy soy milk" comment and focus on the greasy food claim. I agree with that, and I just broke down and had a nasty Wendy's burger last week and still my heart hurts, but there is nasty disgusting greasy food, and then there is the nasty disgusting greasy food that actually tastes good. I wouldn't eat fried cockroach just because it is nasty and greasy. _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.

Spanish class is to learn spanish, not Spanish culture.
In English class do we learn about American culture? No.
Thank you. |

Wrong, but that's not the point. There wasn't a question about Olvera St. on your test because the teacher felt like being mean.

The original settlement of LA (if you don't count the Native population). Site of the very first buildings in what would later become Los Angeles, in late 1700's. Little tourist-y these days but part of the history of LA. Guessing that was why it was on your test... _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |

We ought to archive these threads some place that's useful, so we can refer to them when the need arises. |

Yeah, an 100 question final when there are 15 random ass questions on culture isn't being mean considering we never even studied that.
And English learning about American culture? We learn literature, not culture. Yes you can make the case that literature is culture but it is only a fraction of the grand pool of culture. Culture is for history class, hence the reason that we only learn literature in English. Spanish shouldn't be different. |
