"The greatest player in NBA history once again was selected with the third pick. I'm a Magic man myself but there is no question that everyone's success (both individual and team) except for a shallow NBA-era Celtics team pales in comparison to Michael Jordan.
"6 NBA Titles, with 2 three-peats. Jordan's five MVP awards, ten All-NBA First Team designations, nine All-Defensive First Team honors, fourteen NBA All-Star Game appearances and three All-Star MVP, ten scoring titles, three steals titles, six NBA Finals MVP awards, and the 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award and a partridge in a pear tree. The man did it all on the court and was an icon off it as well.
"The season selected was 1995-96 when Jordan was at the pinnacle of his game. That rarified air when the athleticism and mental game were all on one accord. Plus, after a three-peat, baseball layover, and showing he was human the year before, this season Jordan took his hunger to a new level - leading his team to an NBA record 72-wins, leading his team throughout the playoffs with only 3 losses in 4 series, and became only the second player to sweep the MVP Awards in the All-Star Game, regular season and NBA Finals.
"I could go on and on but there is no need. The Harlem Knights welcome and embrace Michael Jordan as one of the foundations to our franchise. His leadership on and off the court complimented by his offensive ability and defense tenaciousness plan on leading this oranization to the 2008 ATL Championship."

"In a league with such depth, seeing player after player go by as one waits for their pick is agonizing. But when the name like Earl "The Pearl" Monroe comes up, you know you got a prize.
"Monroe, a dazzling ballhandler and one-on-one virtuoso, is a pioneer of the game and changed the way the point guard position was played. No longer just set up men, he can lead a team in assists or scoring.
"Monroe will be a valuable member of this franchise and an asset that will help us reach our championship goals."

"In a league of such versatility, getting a 7'4" player who can score with his back to the basket or off movement, who can block shots as an anchor or defend the ball in open floor, who can finish the lob pass or make a nice one himself - the ability of Ralph Sampson will be a perfect compliment to the offense and defense out on the perimeter.
Although young, quickly in his prime Sampson showed he was ready for the moment. Whether its stepping up to be an All-Star next to an All-Star frontcourt mate or hitting game-winning shots in the playoffs, Sampson is ready to do whatever it takes to make the Harlem Knights a winner."

"There is often times in a draft where value and need meet at a fork in the road. Here in Harlem, we understand value and the ability to adapt and with that we selected Michael Ray Richardson in the fourth round.
"A player who will help make the offense and defense more dynamic, in the season selected, Richardson became the first player in NBA history to lead the league in both assists and steals. Paired with Jordan and Monroe, that kind of dominance on the perimeter will stymie many of opponents offensive gameplans as well as raise hell for them trying to slow the Knights down.
"Many may not know about Richardson but in this clip told by one who grew up in the Harlem area - Chris Rock, you get an idea of just how skilled he was [shown in highlight reel in 1st post]. A man who put the fear in HOF great players. History will show that his personal demons cut short his brilliant career but the Harlem Knight organization is glad to get him early on and hope that the leadership of Michael Jordan will keep him focused on the game."

"To have a great team, you need to have a roster where everyone understands their role. With that, the Harlem Knights are pleased to introduce our next two players.
Round 5, 111th pick - Robert Horry
"A man who needs little introduction, 'Big Shot Rob' has been making clutch plays since he stepped into the league. No matter what position he needs to play off the bench, Horry is a proven winner who will hit any shot or any player to reach that mountain top he hs been 7 times in his career.
The 2001-02 season was vintage for Horry. In fact, Horry himself had a remark he wants released to those (especially in Sacramento) who believe his clutch shots aren't the result of skill:
"A luck shot is one of those guys who has no form," Horry said. "If you look at the shot, it was straight form. He shouldn't have tipped it out there. It wasn't a luck shot. I have been doing that for all my career. He should know."
Round 6, 130th pick - Derek Harper
"One of the most underrated guards in NBA history, Harper quietly put in his tough work on offense and defense for 15 seasons. finishing his career 11th in steals and 17th in assists, Harper will bring his hardnose game off the bench for the Knights as a stabilizing force also capable of hitting the big shot and keeping the defensive pressure up."
Round 7/8 - declined picks
"The Harlem Knights chose to forego their last two picks for multiple reasons. The chemistry of this team is very high with a clear understanding of roles and the financial freedom it got will help the organization more in free agency. Rather than to disrespect players by taking them then waiving them - which would hurt their salary demands as well as publically humiliate them, the Knights felt it best to be chivalrous in our actions.
The Harlem Knights organization cares about each and every player in the league, both on this team, opposing this team, or those who aren't on a roster yet. We have too much respect for the game to do anything that will diminish it.
"Thank you"

The Harlem Knights announce that they have traded Earl Monroe to the Fullerton Poor Teachers for Grant Hill.
“The Knights are grateful for the contributions made by The Pearl and wish him all the best with his new franchise. With the Teachers need for a PG who can create for himself and others, we and Monroe believe he would be a better fit for the Poor Teachers and are sad to see him go.
“With that said, we happily embrace Grant Hill to the fold. Grant will stabilize the frontcourt with a great all-around player and more importantly a great character. He will alleviate a lot of pressure to score from Michael Jordan as well as being another great passer for this team. Hill has had to carry many teams to the playoffs on his shoulders but now can go back to his normal complimentary role where he feels most comfortable.”
In 1996-97, Grant Hill averaged 21.4 points, 7.3 assists, 1.8 steals while shooting 49.6% from the floor and 30% from 3. He was an All-Star starter as well as on the All-NBA first team. Hill is alone with wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA history to lead their team in points, rebounds, and assists per game three times.
“Michael is not available for public comment but I’ve spoke with him and he is thrilled to have a running mate so close to Scottie Pippen but can naturally carry more of the offense to allow Jordan to play at his DPOY level on the other end and have plenty left in the tank to close the fourth.
“By making this move, we also have freed Michael Ray Richardson up so he can bring his 2-way game to the starting lineup. Derek Harper steps up as well as the primary PG backup and the overall balance of our roster improves.
“With three interchangeable parts in Richardson, Jordan, and Hill we are excited at how we will be able to pressure the ball, get out in the floor and run, as well as exploit mismatches in the half-court set. However, the Knights aren’t done building a winning team for our fans and community. We haven’t added to our payroll and plan on being very aggressive in free agency. We still have a need for a presence in the post and won’t rest until that need is fulfilled. “

In Harlem we leave no stone unturned in making sure our players get the credit they deserve.
Thanks. I've read/wrote so many NBA articles I can do those in my sleep.
The hardest part was getting use to this new mouse I have and when I'm using IE from work, if I click back it loses everything I wrote. So a few of those are the re-writes when I was pissed I deleted the first ones.
That and finding just the right youtube click was the only real work.
"The Harlem Knights appreciate the enthusiasm of their fans so we wanted to give you an update on the current FA talks.
"We have seen the flood of e-mails and blogs commenting on one player or another and we encourage such high spirits and we want to reassure you we are doing the best we can to put the best product on the floor.
"However we want to let our fans have faith in us to handle this. So this is to the group of women who call themselves the Harlem Sweeties and are plotting to seduce players to get them to play for Harlem, we ask that you please cancel your plans. The authorities have been notified and we will be offering counciling services in the near future.
"Its about class, not ass.
"That is all for now. We will continue to keep our fans updated with any other changes in the organization. Thank you."

Awesome. Pure awesome. _________________ "After watching Bryant and Cooper go at it for about 10 minutes West stood up, nodded at two team public-relations men he'd brought with him, and snapped, 'That's it, let's get out of here, I've seen enough. He's better than anyone on our team.'"
"The Harlem Knights are thrilled to welcome Tim Duncan as the newest member of our franchise. He will be alongside Michael Jordan as the faces of the organization which we hope will lead to the ATL Championship.
"We feel that Tim embodies not only the great skill this franchise aims but also embraces the character that we will show on and off the court.
"It was a trying process. There was no hesitation in extending all of our available cap resources for Tim. With no magic wand in hand, we simply had our hard work and the talent and scheme we could put around him to make this happen.
"Tim was so overjoyed with emotion at joining our team he sent this eloquent statement he wanted read to the fans: "Thanks..."

HARLEM KNIGHTS PLAYER REACTION OF DUNCAN ACQUISITION
"This has been a great day for the Harlem Knights and one of our stars Michael Jordan wanted to address the fans.
"This is the reason why I came back," Jordan said. "To go to an organization that puts winning as the paramount goal yet still doing it with class is what basketball is all about. This is a great core to win a championship with.
"From Grant, to Michael Ray and Ralph, to Rob and Derek stabilizing the bench, to Tim and myself - the keys are all there. We trust the organization now will fill in the gaps with quality players and character guys who are serious about a ring and we'll do the rest"
"Grant Hill also added simply: We're finally together Tim! Just as it was meant to be."
"The Harlem Knights also apologize that in the excitement of the announcement we forgot to acknowledge Tim's great accomplishments. The sure first ballot Hall of Famer, the two-time NBA MVP and four time NBA champion will be utilizing his 2002-03 season with us. This year Tim won the first of two MVP awards, the second of three Finals MVP awards, first team ALL-NBA, first team All-defense, and an All-Star starter. Plainly put - we added a Hall of Famer player in the prime of his career."
"Utilizing the momentum of adding Tim Duncan with Michael Jordan, the Harlem Knights will like to introduce the newest members of the team: Kurt Thomas (98/99), Scott Williams (93-94), Darius Miles (00-01) and Quentin Richardson (00-01).
"Kurt and Scott will fortifty our frontcourt depth, giving us different looks from the athleticsm of Horry as well as both being able to play backup center for Ralph Sampson. There ability to hit the open jumper also allows them to play next to Tim, freeing him up more on offense. Both have championship level experience and have routinely stepped up in the moment.
"With such a veteran squad, we've also brought some youthful energy with Q and Miles. Fitting in with our Globetrotter heritage, when we really want to push the tempo with Michael Ray (Richardson) these two will be quick to defend and fill the lanes. Even though they are young and boistrous, the respect they feel for the great players on our team give us 100% confidence they will fit in. Michael was so excited he signed them to his shoe line where they filmed a commercial for him this morning.
"As we've said many times, the Harlem Knights will do whatever it takes to put a championship ballclub on the floor. We are still looking to add one final piece of the puzzle but our fans already know we won't stop until a championship is won. Thank you."
HARLEM KNIGHTS SIGN AARON MCKIE & ANNOUNCE TREAT FOR FANS
"To finalize the roster the Harlem Knight signed 6th Man of the Year Aaron McKie to the squad. A member of the team that help Philly reach the NBA Finals for the first time in 18 years will bring his hardnose play to the team in its neverending quest for the ATL Championship.
"The Harlem Knights also are pleased to announce that on Monday, August 11th, there will be a special treat for our fans here in the team thread in anticipation of the playoffs."
