You guys really knocked yourselves out in the first round with some superb game plans that reflected a TON of work. We need to dial it back some and change the structure slightly.
1. Minutes by Position
Don't just list players, organize it by position PG: Smith 35, Wesson 13.
2. Sales Job
You have three short paragraphs to sell whatever you want. Can be brief head-to-head analysis, head-to-head stats, a quote about your player, a video link, analysis of the opponent's shatterpoint, anything you want up to three short paragraphs. This is your billboard, your spotlight.
3. Offense
Up to three halfcourt sets (with percentages) and two plays within them. A running game can be a 4th set. Focus on what mismatches you are working, what strengths you are optimizing where.
4. Defense
Same thing. If you expect to face a running game don't forget transiton D as a 4th set. Focus on how you stop the key scorers and mask weaknesses.
5. Adjustments
This is only for when things go bad. If X is carving you up then what? If your offensive set isn't working then what? If he's running your big into the ground then what? This is a combination of crystal ball, in case of emergency, and the if/thens for offense/defense. You get four adjustments. Use them well, if the game is close this section may well be the difference between winning and losing.
6. Closing
Closing lineup, briefly say how you execute on both ends.
7. Why we win
Summary argument, keep it concise.

For judging in the second round I will take a slightly more active role. If a writeup includes an assumption or conclusion where the facts say otherwise I will inform the judge of that fact and then ask for an edited writeup. If the writeup doesn't make reference to the game plans I will ask for a new verdict that does. I will only intervene when it is absolutely clear that a key fact has been missed or a game plan isn't in the verdict. |

Judging will follow the new format. Rumble Time is no more, I'll miss it.
1. Minutes by Position
Comments on vulnerabilities, assumptions, dealing with foul trouble, matching up the minutes with the game plan style.
2. Sales Job
Agreements, disagreements, comments.
3. Offense
What works, what didn't and why. Lost opportunities, disagreements on assumptions/opinions.
4. Defense
Same
5. Adjustments
Comments on what does/doesn't work, key adjustments missed.
6. Closing
Does it work?
7. And the winner is...
Summary by judge on who wins and why. |

Just to check - do you have a word count in mind? |

The formula is: using L4L's writeup as the starting quotient, reduce by a factor of 10x, then half that. |

No word count in mind, don't focus on that, just focus on your ideas and communicating them clearly. |
