It is with deep sadness that I must announce the passing of a great member of this community. Phil Allen, known simply as "Phil" here, was hospitalized this past week after a car accident. Before he passed, LG and all of you were in his thoughts.
His niece said to say, "Phil is with Chick, high in the bleachers enjoying every Lakers game."
Well said.
The family said they prefer to remember his life without too much continued sadness about its end, and no response outside of this community is needed.
LakersGround has no flag to fly at half mast. We have no 21-gun salute. So, sound the cannons of your heart. Shed a tear for a loved one. Make a toast in his honor. Our dear friend, Phil, will be missed.

I'm still in disbelief over this news. Truly an incredible loss.
Phil was an integral member of LG and tremendously helped this site grow to what it is today. His hard work and dedication towards LG was really special.
It indeed feels like losing a family member. Our community has suffered a great loss today. I also feel for his family who had such a wonderful person taken away from them too early. My thoughts and prayers go out to them during this difficult time.

What he did for this website speaks to his great character. He cared a great deal about this great site. I'll always be thankful for everything he did here. Thank you for everything Phil. _________________ "99% of the players in the NBA would immediately have surgery to repair a torn ligament in their small finger, but

Phil, wow my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. This is devastating news. Phil was one of the best Lakers fans and an even better person. I am just in shock right now.
Truly a sad day today with this news. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. _________________ LD2k's Twitter

RIP and condolences to his family. That's a tragedy, I know from experience that it's especially hard when you lose a relative unexpectedly, especially this time of year. There was just a thread giving him props a week ago. Sad news. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!
