All things being equal, the Lakers would own Utah in a 7 game series. However, given the fact that they are allowed to get away with so much on their home court, I would prefer to see them in SA's bracket. Pau didn't play his usual game, but the fact remains that Okur was butchering him in the paint. The same can be said of the defense played on Kobe. With that being said, the Lakers did not play inspired defense in that 1st quarter, and I was particularly disturbed by Kobe's lack of respect for Utah's wing players. However, in the end, the Lakers had a 1 point lead with a minute to go . They were right there and had a chance to pull out another amazing road victory.
Overall, I'm still proud of what the Lakers did in this game despite coming up short. They made no excuses for this loss and gave Utah all the credit in the world, which is a far cry from what we've seen from Boston and Cleveland in their recent losses.
On a final note, I think it's very telling that Utah has a 21-6 home record and only a 9-17 road record. I don't think anyone would ever accuse a Jerry Sloan coached team of being mentally weak, so it's hard to imagine that Utah's young players choke on the road. The more likely explanation is that the Jazz are allowed to get away with fouls at home that they get called for on the road. |

We had Duke game, so of course my drink *** missed the game. Thanks for the write-up DB. I find it hard to believe Lamar and Pau played that well, held Millsap in check, and we still lost. |

I don't think I've ever seen such bad decision making at the end of a game from Fisher, Kobe and PJ...to my frustration |

-i would have liked to see the machine more down the stretch, i think he would have knocked down a 3 at the end
-too many jumpers from kobe and company when we should have eaten them alive in the paint
-as stated, d-fish should have called a timeout after the first miss
-trevor needs to re-focus during the all-star break
-another beast of a game for L.O.
-hated the phantom and-1 millsap was given
-i thought phil should have let kobe play the whole 4th since he rested at the end of the 3rd (plus all-star weekend coming up)
-another big balls dance wasted
-sasha has really improved his passing
-luke is useless again
-i liked jordan's aggression, but hated some of the carelessness
-ok with 7 of 8, but really wanted the 8 game win streak going into the break
if the celtics lose to the mavs all will be forgiven for leaving okur OPEN _________________ "When (Kobe) gets you on life support, he won't give you mouth to mouth. HE PULLS THE PLUG." -stu |
