There's no reason to not let Spencer be a 6th man scorer off the bench at this point. He's at his best when he's in attack mode and asked to attack on offense and getting spot up opportunities when he gets going.

Dinwiddie being designated our primary 6th man scoring PG should have been what we had him do from Day 1 instead of throwing him into 3 guard lineups from the get go.

A talent like CWood was also misused. For sure didn't tap into his offensive abilities like we should have.

Him coming into training camp slow and overweight didnt help.

He really needs to apply himself & be what he previously was with other teams! This was a blessing in disguise.

As I've said before it wasn't really up to him most previous games, he rarely got the ball and was literally the 5th option. Last two games he's run the offense and gotten shots as part of actually run plays. He performed just about the way the Dinwiddie of last year performed i.e. a serviceable NBA rotation guard.

People keep saying that he needs to be aggressive, I seen someone say apply pressure.

It's tough to do that when you are in with several people that need the ball. It makes it worse when it's a 3 guard line-up.

He isn't the main or secondary ball handler when DLO there. DLO, Reaves, Bron, and then Spence.

Last night he was the main ball handler.

We only get to borrow him until We hoist the Trophy this year. What does it cost to have Jedi Windudiddie resign with us next year?

If Spencer continues to play like this, is it enough to be a difference maker in the playoffs?

In other words, the Lakers have an athletic guard that can score and defend to pair with DLO..is that enough to change the Lakers chances in the playoffs (assuming Ham uses him right?)?

I hope I’m wrong but no, I don’t think so. Dinwidde may cover two holes with more 3pt shooting + PoA backcourt defense but the Lakers need a rebounding defensive big body back up C to have a legitimate chance imo. Without that it looks like just a matter when, not if they fall. Perhaps if Vando comes back he can improve the team rebounding and perimeter defense but it’s a long shot. Maybe if Ham can consistently get the team prepared to start with a winning strategy and adjust with countering schemes to limit runs and/or get separation they can surprise me but they’ll also need to significantly reduce turnovers + improve FT shooting. Rooting for all of that but not expecting it.

Possible. But AR needs to come off the bench. Dimwiddie, DLO, Vando, Bron, AD

Hit a clutch 3 and some nice big free throws. Played good defense. Gives us another look defensively from the guard spot.

I actually like him not needing to shoot/score but able to bring up the ball, initiate offense and play defense

He was huge, made that gusty three pointer when we REALLY needed it. Good defensive, clutch free throws. I'm happy Spencer is on our team.

14/7 off the bench tonight. Played some solid D. He and TP was our scoring off the bench tonight, outside of 2 in garbage time by Max.

He lowkey saved our season. We desperately needed another contributor with Vando/Gabe/Wood out.

On the offensive and defensive end, Dinwiddie is giving us what we were hoping for from Vincent.

Last 6 games 11 points 2.3 Rebounds 2.5 assists 47.5% Field Goal 52.4% from three on 3.5 attempts.

Those are the kinds of stretches we were hoping Vincent would be able to give us. And Dinwiddie's defense in general and especially on the nights his offense hasn't gotten going, is noticeable.

Looks like it took the coaching staff 10-15 games to integrate him into the offense and to play Russell's backup; what seemed obvious to us fans may have taken them (players and coaches) time to ramp-up/familiarize.

Dinwiddie is definitely a playoff piece, if we make it that far. Seems to know how to make clutch plays on both ends

Really?

He was a -1.4 at PG and +9.3 at SG with the Nets this year

2023
+3.6 at PG in Brooklyn
+7.3 at SG in Brooklyn

When Dallas went to the WCF
+12.9 at PG
+ 4.8 at SG (played 74% his time)
+3.1 at SF (played 20% his time)

————
As a Laker he’s at +9.7 at PG and + 10.2 at SG. Even when he wasn’t scoring, he immediately came in and started covering for AR and Dlo both.

He became a good defender post injury to his knee because he started using his length over trying to out quick everyone. Its like how Ron Harper became a defender of the pg spot post knee injury

agreed, he'll be like our 2020 Rondo with a jump shot.

2020 playoff Rondo shot 40% from deep, to be fair

But I agree with the sentiment

I like his heart. Dude plays with passion out there on both ends and doesn’t play afraid. I’ll take that all day.

Jedi

Attitude infusion. Suits up and knows the pedigree of his jersey

I'm pretty sure him and Austin have some battles. He's like who TF this white boy think he is and it fuels Austin to fight even more.. All in good sportsmanship
