Budenholzer shares the same philosophies as Ham, and he has a ring in his resume. His Bucks teams were consistently amongst the top ranked defensively with DPOY Giannis anchoring. He can build an elite defense around AD in LA.

I know. I'm talking hypotheticals. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

What if it turns out that Ham is dumb because his mentor was also dumb?

That’s just a dumb premise. There were trepidations when we signed Vogel, and he won a ring. So did Bud. Those guys are real basketball coaches, Ham is just an assistant, if that.

Let's be honest. With LeBron, very few coaches ever would actually hold authority over him and command his respect; Phil, Pop, Coach K, "coach" Riley(? certainly had issues with the team executive). Anyone else is essentially a figurehead.
That being said, the next best thing you could ask for is a coach who LeBron at least respects enough to not embarrass or disrespect him publicly.
with the basketball knowledge of Lebron, is it really a bad thing he has a strong voice on the court? ham would probably be exposed even more without Lebron.
Well even under Vogel... Lebron/Rondo would come up with the game plan or plays during the playoffs.
Issue with Ham is his rotations and in game adjustments. His job is to limit mistakes but I feel like he added on to it.
Lionel Hollins? Rudy Tomjanovich? David Blatt? Mike D'Antoni? Bill Walton? What about Mark Jackson? Or better yet, Kurt Rambis?
In all seriousness, I'd be fine with Kenny Atkinson or Ty Lue. Maybe even Terry Stotts or Beck Hammon with JJ Reddick or Rondo as assistants. Hopefully Handy stays.
I guess it all depends if LeBron is leaving or not (but we all know he's going to drag it out all Summer and eventually stay anyways. Smh)
Go get Micah Nori from the Wolves. The defense will improve immediately.
I like this idea, even if I prefer Adelman.
Finch is a wildly creative coach on both ends. He has typically run 5-Out, but his implementation of 4.5-Out to weaponize Gobert from the slot position was a creative wrinkle for the Wolves. If Nori is anything like Finch, he’s an excellent hire.

Nori strikes me as a knowledgeable, tough nosed guy that can also relate to the players. I could see him fitting in well with our stars/their egos.
With very few attractive re-treads out there, I don't think there is an "easy" hire out there that could help bring another championship here like with Phil in 1999. I think the best/most intriguing candidates at this time are (in no particular order):
Budenholzer - seems like one of the most obvious candidates out there based on past success and pedigree. Championship-winning coach just a few years back. Long-time Pop assistant that was able to become a successful coach in his own right. Whether or not he'd come here after Ham would be fired is a different matter.
Hammon - She is a Pop disciple which is why she gets a lot of mention. Like many others who've come from Pop's coaching tree. Beyond that, she's won 2 championships as a HC in the WNBA. Whether or not that kind of success can translate to the NBA is a different story, but that can't be all too different than a successful NCAA coach jumping to the pros. What is also favorable for Hammon is that she does have coaching experience in the NBA where lots of college coaches making the jump don't.
JJ - Played for coach K. Had a long career as a player, which can definitely curry favor with this current generation of players who want a coach that can relate.
Rondo - lauded by teammates and coaches for his acumen. No doubt has a mind for the game, but does he even want to coach? Does he even have what it takes to coach at the highest level? By far the biggest question mark, but also intriguing. He'd definitely need an assistant or two with some decent past HC success to help him navigate.
Atkinson - I was impressed with what he did in BKN, but that was with a team without superstar diva personalities. I'm skeptical of how he would do when at the helm of a team with LeBron/AD (or any superstar for that matter). He seems like a great coach for a team that would "buy in".
The idea of Hammon sounds really good. There is a nice article regarding how she runs her offense with WNBA Las Vegas team:
I can see this happening. JJ is that new flavor. You know what....mark it....if/when Ham gets fired my money's on JJ Reddick as the next Lakers HC. All 20 bucks.
Don't mean to toot horns here but the writing was pretty much on the wall after watching this short posted.
Bron gets what he wants with Jeanie. And JJ he gets.
Let's see how this pans out. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.
Jj may be an amazing coach from the jump. It’s just weird that his name surfaced with a ton of momentum a day after their podcast where jj said what he would do with bron.

Right, like Phil couldn’t coach because Fish and Luke couldn’t coach. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
