So Clippers are the new darlings, huh? Now they're going to get all the calls? Did Stern forget that the Clippers' owner is a miserable bigot? Perfect team to prop up!
Steve Blake: Awesome game tonight. Great shooting. Some careless passes though.
Pau: Average. Decent scoring, but didn't really work on the boards.
'Drew: Incredible first half. Team went away from him in the second for some unknown reason.
Fisher: Pretty damn good actually. A boneheaded shot in the first half, but other than that pretty solid.
Barnes: Picked up where he left off last year and last game - Just (bleep) Awful. Not sure how he missed massive 'Drew running the floor late in the fourth with no one in front of him, oh well.
Metta: Awful, awful first half and third quarter. Woke up in the fourth.
Troy Murphy: Got torched by Blake in the fourth, but that's a tough one on one cover. Solid otherwise.
Gerald Green: He should be cut tomorrow. Jeez, what an awful game.
Overall, much smoother looking game today. Lakers were doing a better job out there looking like they at least had an inkling of how the offense and defense were supposed to work.

Clippers scored all ngiht by having two excellent PG's againsta teasm struggling to know where to rotate. But they didn't pull away even playing their starters around 10 minutes longer than the Lakers, even with the strange laker rotations, and with no Kobe. When the season gets going, they won't see those open looks and cuts, and just look how they got murdered on the boards. _________________ “We must always take sides. It's disgusting what he did to the Laker franchise. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
I still think the way to defend Paul is not with speed because there aren't that many PGs around as quick, but with length in a good athletic body -- like Ebanks. What you want to do is make Paul a scorer and cut down on some of his lobs. Take away his passing angles. IMO, if Paul gets 30, but no one else gets anything easy -- especially guys like DeAndre who feed emotionally off of dunks, and kick their defense into a higher gear because of it -- you will be okay. You want to keep the guys who get easy lobs or easy threes passive.
I'd defend a lot of the smaller PGs that way, whether it be Nash or Paul. Guys like Deron and Rose are harder to defend that way because they're so strong and are bigger, but I still think that's the way to go.
With Paul, Imake him a scorer, and if he penetrates make your bigs be disciplined. If they challenge a shot, don't let it be an And -1, and the other Bigs and perimeter players HAVE TO rotate to cover for the teammates who challenge the penetration. ACtually, the perimeter players simply need to stick with their man and NOT collapse. The Clips have a nice collection of shooters who will feed off open threes if you overcommit to Paul.
For all thei Clips new firepower, I still see a hole in the middle on offense. Control the boards and take away easy baskets.

SGH
And you neutralize Griffin and Jordan when you take it right to them in the post. Neither is a quality man defender. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

Pretty much spot-on IMO, but you forgot to give Ebank his props. He played great and he looks hungry.

Drew is now 20/10/2 for the preseason. Let's see how this carries over to January.
Ebanks - wow. He didn't play the second half because he only needed one half to secure a spot high in the rotation for the Lakers. No need to see any more, time to evaluate MWP and Barnes.
Morris - I think he secured a roster spot Monday.
Tonight was Goudelock's test. His roster spot looked very shaky at first, but I think he settled down in time to secure a spot as well.
OK - it's obvious McBob can play.
Murphy, Kapono, Goudelock, and now Blake all raining 3's - I hope they can do this from April though June. They all showed they can help this team.
Perhaps Glock might even become a decent defender with some time?
Who do we cut???
Green
Andrews
Daniels
Milsap
Thomas
Looks like Walton's on the deep end of the bench. He'd better buy a very comfortable suit.

Bah, forgot about Ebanks. Brown didn't really play him second half so he kind of faded in my mind. He was by far our best SF tonight.
Also blocked out Fisher's horrid third quarter with turnover after turnover. Good ideas, just bad execution.
Pau: Average. Decent scoring, but didn't really work on the boards.
Pau was the 2nd leading rebounder of the game with 9. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

Yeah, that was bad. Was surprised how effective he was as a traditional PG when he kept it simple. Got carried away. Blake was really solid though _________________ “We must always take sides. About 4 of those fell into his lap uncontested. He was losing the 50/50 balls. I don't really care in the preseason, but he really wasn't trying to work too hard out there tonight.
>Coach is trying to get MWP on the block to make plays and its nauseating to see him get rejected by the rim or stumble...the guy needs to lose some weight or something and condition himself with vertical drills or something
>Blake was good in terms of shooting (his release makes me cringe sometimes but it works for him)...some errors on dumb passes but he was showing much better than last year
>Goudelock is a straight shooter and shouldnt be trying to force the issue ball handling...Troy/Kapono/Goudelock pretty much are our shooters and are going to be put in for that reason (Troy obviously taking the brunt of 5 position defending)
>Barnes did not impress...looks like he's comfortable just being around not much effort other than trying to check Blake during the game
>Bynum pretty much was money... made me happy seeing him shut up Deandre's shouting with each point he makes ...pretty much made the dude look like a fool at times trying to guard Drew... I hope he tries to demand the ball a bit more ...
>Ebanks too was impressive...My only concern is he has this green light in his head to just shoot it .... kind of how drew started out, so thats just gonna take some time.... him and Morris off the bench going to be great energy
Griffin needs to get a jumpshot bad...if not he looks so one-dimensional, might as well crown him as V Carter the 2nd...
So fans of a team that employs three of the greatest floppers of all-time in Fisher/Gasol/Kobe are whining about another team flopping? Oh...the humanity.

Blake Griffin is putting himself in a level far above everyone else. Maybe only the likes of Varejao are on his floptasctic level right now.
And CP3 has challenged for the crown of biggest flopper in the NBA since his first day in the league.
Billups? LOL
The Clippers have clearly become the biggest flopping team over one off season. Hell even DeAndre flew 10 feet when Bynum walked down the court and barely touched him.
That last Blake Griffin flop in the 4th quarter where he wasnt even touched was just sad. Dont do that and ever again act hard on a basketball court. That Blake Griffin flop was on the level of the legendary AK47 flop on Dirk.
