I've had some computer issues and watched the Olympics instaed of working on fixing them. Things are working now but not that much news out there.

Lakers don't have enough to beat Thunder in playoffs

Even with the Lakers' off-season additions, they won't have enough to beat Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs. (Wally Skalij / Los Angeles Times / May 21, 2012)

By Mark Medina

August 3, 2012, 8:50 a.m.
Every NBA team is subject to roster changes leading into the season and up through the trade deadline. But in the spirit of seeing how things have evolved for the Lakers since the 2012 NBA playoffs ended, this is the first part of a series breaking down their potentially troublesome Western Conference opponents

Team: Oklahoma City Thunder

Lakers' record versus Thunder last year: 1-2 in regular season; lost 4-1 in Western Conference semifinals

How Thunder fared last season: Compiled a 47-19 regular-season record (second in Western Conference), lost 4-1 to the Miami Heat in NBA Finals

Why the Thunder is a threat to the Lakers: The same reason the Lakers lost to the Thunder in last year's playoffs. Even with the Lakers acquiring Steve Nash and Antawn Jamison, they don't have enough pieces to keep up with Oklahoma City. The Lakers still can't do anything about stopping Russell Westbrook. They don't nearly match the bench support that James Harden brings to the Thunder. The Thunder know how to limit the Lakers' size advantage, with Kendrick Perkins fronting Andrew Bynum and Serge Ibaka playing physical on Pau Gasol. Thabo Sefolosha and Harden have been successful at making Kobe Bryant work hard for his shots.

Why the Lakers Should Send a Dump Truck Full of Cash to SF Alonzo Gee - Fan's Analysis

By Andrew Sweat | Yahoo! Contributor Network

There are two things you need to know about me.

First, I am a life-long, die-hard Los Angeles Lakers fan.

Second, I have an unabashed man-crush on the Cleveland Cavaliers' SF Alonzo Gee.

The 25-year-old Gee is a restricted free agent after the Cavs extended a $2.7 million qualifying offer, enabling them to match any offer Gee receives during the free agency period. As a Lakers fan I hope GM Mitch Kupchak backs up a dump truck full of cash in Alonzo Gee's driveway and gets the young swingman wearing the purple and gold.

PodKast: Antawn Jamison on signing in L.A., Princeton O, and honey buns

August, 3, 2012

By Brian Kamenetzky

Earlier in the week, Kobe Bryant said the Lakers plan on running the Princeton offense this year, in an effort to add more structure and better take advantage of their talent on that side of the ball. To that end, the Lakers are reportedly adding Washington Wizards head coach and Princeton O expert Eddie Jordan to Mike Brown's staff.

Thursday afternoon, Andy and I welcomed to the show new Lakers forward Antawn Jamison, who played for Jordan in D.C. for over four seasons. Among other things, we asked him what the new offense might look like for the Lakers, why it's a good fit, and how running a system helps give a team an identity:

The Lakers still need at least one young wing to play the two and 3.

Only thing we're missing is someone who could keep kobe on the bench for 15 mins per night. Other than that Jamison can match the beard production.

Intereating views.

it should be noted that

* Lakers having finalized their roster

* Brown will have a complete preseason to implement his system

* Even with all the distractions, Lakers had a realistic chance to beat the Thunder

* Name ANY PG that can consistently stop Westbrook

* Nash will force opposing PGs to expend a great deal of energy playing defense throughout the entire game - especially at the end of games

* Drew and Pau will have much more space because Perkins and Ibaka will be involved in P&Rs while helping out when Nash is penetrating the paint. Make Perkins and Ibaka move on defense - advantage Lakers

* Harden and Westbrook have provided ample evidence that can be very hot and cold. When Harden is playing against opposing teams' starting lineups, Harden has troubles

* Theo is a good defender, we will see what he can do when the Lakers actually has a PG that will force the Thunder to play 5 on 5

* World Peace is still very capable to limit Durant's production

* Lakers can use Jordan Hill against Ibaka

* How will Harden defend Jamison

Good observation. We know that Nash will make the defense work, and improved floor spacing is a HUGE upgrade...but this doesn't get enough hype. The bigs will be able to roll to the basket and create mismatches or teams will have to leave Nash wide open. That or you're singling Kobe, or the SF is completely open. Back to the bigs though, I'm not so concerned about Drew widening his range as much as working on his short/mid-range game on the move. He will get the looks and be a threat on the board as well.

how the lakers bench is able to maintain or extend leads will be strategic.

jamison, hill, ebanks, mcroberts and blake - hopefully we can limit the minutes of nash and kobe
