It was basically Oregon and Washington fumbling in the biggest moments of the CFB playoffs. USC was crippled by sanctions in the post Pete Carroll era so they weren't even a factor.

Penix was truly awful tonight and they were never going to win with him playing like this. Missing high and wide all night long. Doesn't even look Odunze's way on that 4th down and he's wide open. You have him in single coverage on 4th and 13 and that's not where the ball goes?

Anyway, Michigan is the better team, even if their QB will be overdrafted by the NFL. Congrats to them.

Yeah I thought Oregon let it get away too. Winnable games they let get away.

Does SC STILL have sanctions against them? That was a long time ago...

Not only did Penix (bleep) the bed, tonight was the perfect storm that revealed WA for it's flaws versus the obvious talent it has that got them to 14-0, and in National Championship game.

The Huskies where out coached going in. It was obvious that Harbaugh's crew had a well thought out plan going in, and that helped them leap out ahead to a differential that WA would never overcome. DeBoer's crew just figured they could show like it was week 15; with nothing at stake.

Washington played so badly, it's not even possible to complain about the officiating in regards to how odious the offensive holding calls were regarding one team versus the other.

Congtrats to Michigan, they were clearly the team that decided to show up on all levels.

I wish I could say WA choked. Unfortunately they just sucked too much to save themselves, even when given multiple opportunities to turn it around.

Michigan's defense was obviously a problem for the Huskies, other than the one drive where they marched down the field for 4 minutes, most of the game their offense couldn't really get going.

The sanctions lasted for 2 years, but the effects for the program were devastating. Potential recruits went to SEC schools where they didn't have to deal with the after effects. The program never really recovered until recently.

Is Michigan still going to be under NCAA scrutiny for their spying other teams at games?

Funny ABC/ESPN paid big money for the SEC games which starts next season. And Saban leaves just before the ESPN contract goes into effect. CBS's last year with the SEC was this year and next year they are all in on the Big Ten. Saban and Alabama's dominance was a big reason for why the SEC skyrocketed in value.

Wow, I was never a big fan of his personality, but his record is amazing.

Big loss for Alabama, Georgia is the new bully of the SEC until further notice.

I don't really like the guy nor do I care much about college football, but it's nice to see someone retiring instead of almost dying at the job. Saban is only three years younger than my dad, and my dad is freaking old.

The guy has accomplished everything, has made incredible amounts of money. No need to do this anymore. As I said in the NFL thread, spend time with your family, travel the world.

Great choice if you ask me.

Guy is a winner, they must have thrown a boatload of money at him to go from the Pacific Northwest to Tuscaloosa.

This totally screws WA as they start their new tenure in the B10.

Beginning of the week: Huskies in the national championship game
End of the week: Huskies lose the championship game, the coach leaves for Bama and potential recruits follow him out the door.

Jalen Milroe wouldn't seem to be a fit for DeBoer's offense. Milroe could be a big-time name in the portal soon. LSU? USC? UCLA? Miami? Gasp, Michigan, if McCarthy declares?
