Ben isn't getting any younger..neither is Sheed, neither is Dice and neither is Cato.
All of them are aging.

Pistons should've thought about their future. Darko is still very young.

Bad move Joe, bad move..

I dunno if you can call it bad if the cap flex allows them to keep the core guys together for another 3 - 4 years or so. The window for teams to win championships is small, so why not strike while the iron is hot?

I personally think Darko will be a very good big man and people will start to say Detroit made a mistake, but with the pistons being in the hunt for a title for the next few years you've gotta go with the established guys. I just wish the Lakers coulda swooped in to nap Darko. Orlando looks like they have the makings of something good with a potential twin towers in Darko and Howard, a good PG in Nelson and whoever they can nab in a Francis trade...

it was a good trade for them. got a great draft pick and a serviceable backup to the wallaces. they also get cap relief. all for giving up a player who wasn't doing anything for them anyway.

The only regret should be that they didn't dump him earlier. His value deteriorated with time.

They get orlando's lottery pick. Not all is lost. They obviously didnt see much talent in Darko to give him some quality minutes. Accoridng to Brown, he had a bad work ethic.

I doubt their gonna regret it. They have no use for him. Their doing fine with the team they have now.

Wow, i didnt think i would know anyone who saw what i see in the pistons as well , their an aging team, ...know im not stupid, big ben and sheed are already 31. And big ben is getting mucho money this offseason, i see a Mutombo situation coming with that, from prime to twilight in a blink of the eye. Take big ben away and sheed isnt so imposing anymore.

^ top 5, and the trade helps them with cato's 8.7 mill expiring contract so they can re-sign Ben Wallace.

The Pistons have to pay Ben Wallace and Prince, so Cato's expiring contract helps them afford that.

The Pistons have four All-Stars plus Prince. They are going to have to pay All-Star prices for their players.

They now have six fouls for Shaq.

Frankly, Darko is really a 7 foot small forward, as he lacks the strength and toughness to hang with the big boys inside. He wasn't good at taking contact and scoring, as he looked better at shooting farther from the basket than inside. Defensively, he'd be a nightmare at SF as most SFs would blow right by him. He doesn't play or have the mindset to bang.

Anyone who says Darko is special... once again, as I've asked before on this site, what are you basing your opinion on? Predraft scouting reports? I watched quite a bit of him last season, as the Lakers were looking for a young prospect big. It was also obvious for some time that Dumars was lying through his teeth about the number of inquiries they were getting for Darko, and what an amazing practice player he was. That amazing practice player damaged his own stock, as he looked terrible on the floor.

This was one of thoes trades that just made sense for each team (though the Orlando pick may turn out to be a good one). Even if Darko has some of that "potential" come together, Detroit didn't get hit too badly. Dumars did such a great job putting together these guys the first time, who says he can't do it again years from now? For one year though, what is it like trying to go up the middle with Big Ben, Kato and Prince comming over?

Darko might respond to the change of scenery. He wasn't getting minutes in Detroit. Jerry West said he would have drafted Anthony. It seems West was right.

Darko still is a decent prospect. He's young enough to improve. There is still some potential.

exactly what do u have to lose if your orlando, a 5-14 pick, in one of the worst draft classes? What can u gain, another 7 footer next to howard , than can turn into another "twin towers" or hes a bust he walks in a few years, u then can trade franchise from more talent, get cap flexibility when hill leaves or trade him too.

Darko was buried on the bench. He should get his chance now.

The Pistons are regretting it already:

Darko Gets 1st DNP With The Magic And Sulks

Quote:
ORLANDO, Fla. - Four days into a fresh opportunity at redemption, and Darko Milicic is already sulking. The name on the uniform is different, but the seat at the end of the bench hasn't changed.

He doesn't get it. And he probably never will.

He can't even play on a team that has given up hope on the season.
