Reminder: Lakers are in STEALTH MODE

Ever since Magic Johnson stepped down last April, the Lakers have gone dark.

Stealth mode.

Mum’s the word.

Zero dark free agency.

Nothing you hear in the news from media outlets including Woj, Ramona, Windhorst, Shams, even those local reporters like Tania Gangulia and Brad Turner, nothing you hear from them while a transaction is still in progress have come from the Lakers.

All they’re sourcing have been gifted to them from any of the other 29 teams, some teams much more than others, you can easily guess which team(s) are those.

So when you hear Woj say things like “Lakers are scrambling” it’s because another team not named the Lakers gave that narrative to Woj. These teams main priority as competitors is to make the Lakers not look good for leverage. It’s simply good business for them. Simple as that.

Everything we’re hearing right now about the Lakers are not coming from the Lakers, they are narratives coming from other teams.

None of these reporters can get a hold of the Lakers when are in the midst of making deals, not even Magic Johnson can get through to the Lakers; and he’s moat likely the one who used to leak Lakers’ sources in the past, including yesterday’s Kawhi pitch.

Only time you will hear souring actually coming from the Lakers is if a deal or transaction has been completed. Great example is the Davis trade as well as the follow-up clearing cap room trade. Every narrative and details of those trades as they were on-going came from outside sources, it wasn’t until Lakers completed both deals that you hear the Laker’s side come out.

Lakers have been operating like they do not care about the media driving the narrative negatively, the Lakers seem fine to take their lumps as long as it gets the deal done.

And the only reporter who seems to be the one who is granted info from the Lakers’ after a deal or transaction has transpired so far has been... Bill Oram.

Another reporter who doesn’t take sourcing from other team’s mouth about the Lakers is Dave McMenamin. He simply gathers intel and formulates his own opinion rather than post them as reports.

So there you have it.

Ramona Shelburne, doesn’t have Lakers sources anymore unless his name is Magic Johnson.

She went from being Lakers insider to now an NBA insider.

And if you listen to her on Mason & Ireland, she had brought up the amazing media party she attended hosted by the Clippers on multiple occasions.

Based on Ramona's behavior on ESPN the last couple of weeks I can understand why the Lakers FO/team would be annoyed with her.

She was basically calling the FO a bunch of idiots for how the AD trade went down....

I think she has gotten a little too big for her britches (both literally and figuratively) and the Lakers have cut her off.

On a similar note, the other day Rachel Nichols made a statement that just made me shake my head, but it explains how these hacks thinks.

Paraphrasing: "When the media narrative about your team is negative, that doesn't mean the team should shun the media...it means they should change their ways".

So what she and the rest of the ESPN blowhards truly believe is that they know more about the inner workings of multi-billion dollar professional franchises than anyone else.

As “stealth” as the Lakers perceive to be, I’m very concerned about the Clippers. Unless you believe Woj and others are talking on there behalf, nothing has been leaked on there end. Im not about to assume Jerry West strikes out this summer, guy is a master closer.

The irony of it all is all this could have been avoided if Jeanie just let West come back to the organization.

Ballmer would have been clueless with Griffin as the face of a mediocre franchise. Now West has cleaned it all up in his legendary ways.

Our only hope is Lebron/AD out do him in the pursuit.
