Oregon winning is a loss for the Pac-12

The PAC-12 hasn’t had a team in the playoff in 3 years! And that was a 4th seeded Washington team that looked outmatched against Alabama. And the year before that, no PAC-12 team again. Counting this year, it looks like it’s going to be 6 SEC teams compared to 1 for the PAC-12 going back to 2016.

It’s rare when the PAC-12 has a team in there and even more rare to see them look competitive. Meanwhile, the SEC ALWAYS gets a team and sometimes gets 2 teams, and those teams tend to look pretty good in the playoffs.

Oh, and to make things even more embarrassing, the best team in the PAC-12, a team that dominated both Utah and USC, lost to the 5th best team in the SEC. Utah probably did themselves a favor by not making it into the playoff where they almost certainly would have been exposed in front of an even bigger audience.

I wish the PAC-12 would go back to 8 conference games, and maybe start taking a page out of the SEC playbook and schedule more cupcakes.

Yeah, that might all be true but if Utah wins yesterday, they have a shot at making the playoffs. It'd be between them and Oklahoma.

And financially speaking, that's a loss for the Pac 12.

I didn’t mean it literally that Utah losing was better for them. It would be a big deal for them to win the PAC-12. But I do think they were a huge longshot in a playoff; at least Oklahoma would have a chance.

The way the analyst explained it on TV made sense why it wasn't a TD. He said in college, the play is dead once the body hits the pylon and his shoulder hit the pylon before the ball crossed the goal line.

The pylon is part of the field, it is similar to a knee touching the turf.

How bad can OSU lose and still make the playoffs?

not sure...I think if they maybe got rolled 31-3 or something, there may be a question. It is more likely an injury to Fields or Dobbins would cause the committee to hesitate. If Fields went down, they are screwed....their backup QB is WVU's former backup QB, and he is not very talented.

Yeah, come to think about it, who else could make it?

We know LSU, Oklahoma, and Clemson are in for sure.

It'd be between 1 loss OSU and a couple of 2 loss teams: Wisconsin and Oregon

I do not think Oklahoma is in for sure....they need Ohio State to win.

So you think if Wisconsin wins, it'll be Wisconsin and Ohio State in and Oklahoma out?

Yeah, it's hard for me to see a 2 loss team jump a 1 loss team

I think Ohio State will win...but if Wisconsin did edge them out, then I do think odds are Wisconsin and Ohio State get in over Oklahoma.

OSU is a better team, Wisconsin played a great 1st half though.

I think LSU jumps Ohio State. They just have too many impressive wins over quality opponents, and they were in total control of their game against #4 Georgia. Whereas Ohio State only played one good half today. I think it's fair to wonder which team is better, but LSU has the better resume and I think looks better via the eye test (though that last part is subjective). I don't think there's any question LSU has the more impressive resume and, thus, should be #1.

Much better than that BCS garbage we had to deal with. Clemson would have gotten left out after being undefeated, destroying everyone AND being defending national champs.

I agree with the order....and I will not be too surprised if Clemson takes the whole damn thing. I am not ready to say I think they are the favorite, just pointing out that it feels like #1-#3 is even, but LSU has a better resume.

so Ohio State and Clemson will go out to the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona.....and LSU and Oklahoma go to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl

The National Championship Game is in New Orleans.....LSU has some advantages.

the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl sounds so weird. Well, here are their other sponsors:

Sunkist (1986–1990)
IBM (1993–1995)
Tostitos (1996–January 2014)
Vizio (December 2014)
BattleFrog (January 2016)
PlayStation (December 2016–present)

I recall having all kinds of gear with Sunkist on it from when WVU played Notre Dame in the National Championship in 1989.....but Tostitos feels right because it had that sponsor for so long.
