What did you used to like but now look back on it and think it is pure (bleep)?

Perms, Ripple, elbow patches, Elvis movies, bell bottoms (esp men's), hickeys, bed spreads, 4/8 track/cassette/VHS/Beta tapes and players, TV's with indoor antennas, Tommy guns, and just about anything from the 1950's besides the music. Now if we want to really go back, I'd start with slavery, the treatment of native Americans bordering on genocide, the woman's place as it was and her inability to vote, and men wearing those god-awful wigs, especially the French. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

cigarettes
facebook - was great when it was exclusive to university students. Was still pretty fun before every mope with a phone and an opinion gained internet access

I am guessing there were many instances of people thinking they were doing good work, only to later learn their waterbed had a leak. BTW, I saw something recently that suggested they were making a comeback.
