Honestly worries me a bit that the Lakers are “chasing” Howard even in this small way.
He was successful because he was humbled and played like he had something to prove. What happens when he doesn’t feel that pressure. Will we see the return of the knucklehead Howard ?
We need serviceable bodies to play the 5 since ad doesn’t like to. He knows the scheme and shouldn’t be too expensive

And he's Nurkic/Jokic kryptonite
Nurkic yes. But Jokic figured Dwight out after a few games. But I still want Dwight back.
In 4 series, he was playable for 1.5 of them. That should tell you his true value. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Dwight still soften Jokic up and beat him down the court couple times, gotta convince him for the min

I dont think the Lakers are chasing him, I think they are just keeping him in the loop to be on standby until after they make their big fish moves. If they dont express constant interest then he'd think we are not trying to resign him and he will already be setting up his other moves. _________________ (bleep) Kawhi

I highly doubt the Lakers are "chasing" Howard. I believe they have had lots of dialog which is always a good sign. I hope he stays. I think he brought a lot to the team. I hope he can get even more minutes this coming season. I can see Schroder sending nice lobs to Howard all season long.

Plus he made AD look about as bad as I seen him all season defensively. TBF, AD also had a ton of responsibility on both ends so that was part of it but Jokic was clearly having an easier time against him then Dwight. The Nuggets could very easily be our toughest competition this season again depending what several other teams do and look like by the Playoffs. Not to mention Dwight is saving AD from not only putting in that extra energy on the defensive end but maybe even more importantly saving him from getting into possible early foul trouble.
Dwight was massive against the best player on the best team we faced in the Playoffs so i'd say unless we get Ibaka, Dwight is pretty damn important. Saying all that I agree the Lakers are just doing the smart thing and keeping tabs on him like they're probably doing every other player they even remotely want to have a chance at re-signing.

I wonder how much he wants/expects: https://lakersdaily.com/dwight-howard-looking-to-cash-out-in-free-agency-i-dont-want-to-play-for-free-anymore/ _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

It's bad for us if Dwight goes to a team like the Pelicans. I agree if he's looking for a payday then there's not much we can do if someone offers him significant money, but I really don't want to see him in the Western Conference other than on our bench.
If he goes, then bless him. Thanks for what you've done but he's not irreplaceable. Remember, he was playable for 1.5 out of 4 playoff series. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
i want him back . . . but not as much as I want Ibaka . . . _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
Would rather target Noel/Biyomobo at vet min as a replacement instead of paying whatever Thompson would want _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' We need a ruling from NBA regarding the Luol Deng petition already. We need that money!! Make it a top priority. They still owe us for that nixed CP3 trade. We need to win 2 more rings to make up for it! _________________ Playoffs is good enough. - Jeanie Buss 2024

How would people feel about giving the MLE to Dwight? Or splitting it between Dwight and Rondo? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
I hope we dont get him. He is way too expensive for what he offers.
His called added range last season is fools gold... an negligible amount of attempts and his FT% is bad indicating he is not ready to be a stretch 5.
Only thing I like about him is he's pretty mobile for a big so he shouldnt get burned on switches and PnRs but thats not worth the salary he's looking for.
If we cant get Ibaka I like Christian Wood who should continue to grow into an even better player. Worst case if we whiff on both I dont mind bringing Dwight back as our feature center and Kieff as our small ball 5. _________________ (bleep) Kawhi
