I really have no strong feelings for or against Vince, he was never a huge factor in beating the Lakers, but have a look at his numbers:
1) His "peak" scoring was 15 years ago and has been declining ever since.
2) His last 6 years, he has averaged just under 6.4ppg
3) The 5 years before that he was about 12ppg
Never won a championship, not sure if his teams have even been out of the first round in the playoffs..
I do admire his ability to stay healthy enough to stay active in the NBA, not counting this season, he has averaged playing 59 games a year! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”

I maintain that Vince Carter had a somewhat disappointing NBA career. He burst on the scene in his second year, but never really attained those heights again. He had all the physical tools and a pretty good jumpshot, but never became a top player. He is a hall of famer certainly (heck who isn't these days) but he is below several of his contemporaries. _________________ "All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers."

Mostly agree, but I just don't think he was as dynamic of a player, certainly not like TMAC or Melo were (two other disappointing careers). VC was more a swing man, like Shawn Marion, but had the visuals of Jordan.

I bought tickets to see the Lakers take on Vince after I saw him preview his his 2000 dunk championship set at a Midsummer Night's Magic '99. He did this to John Celestand...it's the only time I've ever stood up and cheered for an opposing player:

the stats decline is really just about him playing for a long time. He played about 10 years longer than most players do, accepting a bench roll. So even though he is stats in the last part of his career don't look impressive, he remained a useful NBA contributor for a long time.
He didn't have a huge amount of playoff success. He did make the Conference Finals one year with Orlando
