How much more is the Boogie injury exception compared to the minimum the Clippers can offer?

Iirc, it would be fairly significantly more for the injury exception. I believe the minimum contract he’d get would be pro-rated for the season, ie he’d only get a percentage of the minimum contract that would match the remaining percentage of the season, whereas an injury exception isn’t pro-rated, so he’d get the entire 1.75 million.

The question is how fit Collison is after taking half the season off. If he stopped training entirely and started eating the minute he retired because he thought he was done, then it could be a big struggle for him to contribute much if anything if/when he does come back. If he’s kept himself in shape, then there shouldn’t be much drop off. But that isn’t something any of us could know.

The best part about getting Collison is probably less Rondo just because Collison is more than capable of running the second unit. I don't think he starts unless he shows some defensive intensity that is equal to Avery/KCP.

Avery-Collison (some minutes to Rondo --- maybe only 8-12)
Danny-Caruso
LeBron-KCP
AD-Kuzma
McGee-Dwight

Collison. Playmakers, shotmakers, they're harder to get than wing defend guys

Iggy can also playmake. Personally I think there's room for both. Cut Cook or Boogie if you have to.

Why cut boogie and just cut cook, Dudley I don’t understand why he is getting a pass from the fans. It not like he is adding something to the team

You don’t invest in the talent of boogie and then waived him, while you hve Daniels, Dudley, Cook on the team

Being a career 40% shooter from 3 and hitting over 50% this year (on small volume) helps.

Also great locker room vet

They didn't invest that much in him and he's probably not going to play this season even if he miraculously recovers. Dwight and McGee are locks in the rotation.

Per Woj, Collision is considering coming out of retirement in February. Considering.

Collison posted (then deleted) a Clipper and a Laker logo.

Keep up, man...

He'll be there next year though when Dwight leaves (for more money). And we'd have treated him right

No he might not play this season, but he still better than Dudley, Daniels, Cook

He never said he is coming out of retirement like the OP posted. He said he is considering it. Big difference.

I like this move
But if we get him
We probably need a trade to balance out the roster

One potential thorn: DC's agent is Bill Duffy, who also reps Bradley and Rondo. Collison going there could have big implications for both/either's playing time or even status with the team. They may signal Duffy to steer him elsewhere or he may just do it himself.

If Hoopshype is correct then he is also Patrick Beverly's agent. So if his preferred destination is the Lakers or Clippers than maybe he doesn't interfere.

I'd guess agents have to be careful consulting other players about bringing a guy in - then the player they consulted knows that they often consult other players about them, and don't have their best interest steering them....

Would these be considered margin moves?

Or it can help if they think DC can help them win regardless of giving up minutes?

I think what we would see is just less minutes for each at PG, and sort of like you have a 3 headed monster at C with McGee, Dwight, AD. You get 3 looks at PG vs opposing teams Bradley, Rondo, Collison. Caruso would strictly be a 2 and KCP would slide over to 3.

Iirc, Duffey has a good reputation as someone who does what's best for his clients. I sincerely doubt he would put the interests of either current Laker over DC's, Rondo, who is at the end of his career, especially. Bradley is actually a Pelinka connection.

The bigger barrier is probably the honest conversation that Collins is a major upgrade over Rondo.

I can’t imagine him joining the clippers, for the same amount of money, you would want more PT, and clippers can’t offer that. Obviously clippers will go after him just to keep him away from the Lakers
