He and LeBron were also talking just a few days ago.

I’m sure it would be for the 9m MLE. That means Caruso most likely would be gone. I just don’t see the fit. Maybe as our 6th man 🤷🏼‍♂️

We need shooters.

He is 28 percent career average in threes. He shot 25% in threes this year.

Can't offer him the mle as it hard caps us. The mmle at near $6M is all we can give.
But most of that is already discussed in the big FA thread.

Derozan would definitely be great. In my opinion, I would rather have him as a super sixth man, but somehow I doubt that happens if we do get him.

It’s just him as a 6th man makes so much sense as his weakness as a 3pt shooter would be minimized and has a lot more creativity green light to do whatever he wants off the bench, rather than fitting next to Lebron, Westbrook and AD.

We will definitely not say no to talent regardless of that weakness.

He's extremely efficient inside the three point line though. That matters too.

He averaged 22 points on 49% from the field despite shooting 25% from three. That means he's SUPER efficient everywhere else on the court, which matters.

DDR would be great for the 2nd unit.

Last season was so frustrating and painful when Lebron took a rest.

Absolutely brutal.

DDR wouldn't be coming off the bench if he came here.

Shared a bit I heard in the FA Thread.

This isn't up to his agent. Derozan wants to come home and if the Lakers can give him a contract, he'll take it and I think he's more serious about the vet minimum than most of you think.

Why can't they sign AC when they have his bird rights? I thought it will not affect the Salary Cap.

If Derozan comes, would this be the worst 3 point shooting big 4 in Nba history?

I actually can't think of another legit big 4.

Garnett/Pierce/Ray/Rondo??
The Malone Lakers?
Nash Lakers?

Spacing seems like the idea for our bench. Our offense seems like they're trying to build a team of people that can get their own shots because they have no faith in Vogel to construct an actual offense.

So essentially what we'll have is the Number 1 ranked defense, and a bunch of guys that can get their own offense, with LeBron and Westbrook essentially playing the point guard.

The thing about Derozan is though he really doesn't shoot threes, he attacks everywhere else on the court and is efficient at it, so he wouldn't be the one jacking up threes for no reason.

I can only assume our three point shooting or floor spacing would come from LeBron and AD and potentially Gasol if he starts at center.

As the Lakers are looking at Carmelo and Rudy Gay for the bench, I assume that is the three point shooting.

DDR willing to come on a discount is an absolute no brainer regardless of the 3pt %. That’s Vogel’s job to figure out…

Nuff said. KCP/Kuz or any random 6m and under vet ain’t givin you that…

Stylistically aside from Kawhi, Derozan is stylistically the most similar to Kobe in terms of his playstyle in the league. Pretty much Derozan and Kawhi are the two closest stylistically to him. Derozan just also has the explosiveness too.

I mean think of it this way, when you want to rest LBJ AND AD for a couple of games you certainly can because Westbrook and DeRozan can definitely win the game with just the two of them and role players.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Was thinking the same while watching those highlights lol. DD plays like a leaner Kawhi without the 3

We all know LeBron likes recruiting during this time of the year, he knows what to say to make players interested in coming here, now rather the signing works out is another story but you can’t deny that LeBron is a master when it comes to convincing players to come, he must have said something that made DeRozan convinced during the meeting a few days ago.
