Stop. The Lakers have Christian Wood who is 10x better than Mo Bamba.
We just have a coach that is refusing to maximize what he can do. THAT is on the coach. if The Heat had Wood and the Lakers had Bamba you'd be talking about why we kept Bamba over Wood who was a free agent and wanted to be here.
It comes down to coaching and role, Spo is good at it, Ham is not. |
We thought Wood would be much better but the fact of the matter is that he has not. His defensive upside has diminished and 3pt shooting almost disappeared as has offensive contributions in general. Mo Bama isn’t all that either but at least he’s shooting 61% from 3 instead of falling off the cliff at 28% like Wood. Still, neither has lived up to expectations so far but Wood has disappointed with more than twice the playing time (7mpg vs 18mpg) without a corresponding production at less than twice ppg or rpg with the same bpg. I don’t think it’s valid at this time to claim one over the other which actually is a downgrade for Wood since initially we expected him to be much better.
I do agree that the issue appears to be more related to Ham tho. He gave/gives Beasley/Prince/CamRed opportunities to play through bad spells but had/has such a short leash on LonnieWalker/Wood. Still, the point is that Wood gets much more of a chance to play than MoBamba and produces no where near an advantage over MoBamba that he should be comparing playing time. _________________ “When it looks as if it is a realistic possibility, I want to focus on winning a ship like it’s a goal that can’t be denied. But why sign Sideshow Bob Hayes???? There is no world in which Hey Hey Hayes is better than Bamba. He is a useless body. A useless body significantly worse than even his main comp Shaqtin McGee, another player who I think sucks @ss but is worlds better than Sideshow Bob. |

We had a chance to keep him but to choose to get a raw project on the team and a stretch big who hardly sees the floor |
Let's face it, he NOR that Miami Heat rookie that people/media said we fumbled on will score that amount if they were on the Purp and Gold. Heck, Wood would've scored that many if he had the opportunity on other teams like them. |

Now we know why the Pels moved on from him. Would rather bring Kwame Brown out of retirement. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

They wanted to have multiple centers in case as insurance for Davis if anything happens and hopefully it doesn't.
We SHOULD be playing Wood a lot more. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Hayes has some skills, he's an athletic rim runner who is decent at hedging and switching. Remember the Cavs game where Ham adjusted to the way the Cavs were overloading on AD to get a bunch of lobs?
Blame the coaches for not using him properly.
Wood makes more sense in a lot of lineups and should be getting play. +/- wise he has a lot of interesting lineups that've worked super well. And that's with his jumper missing, but you know he'll eventually get back to 35% (see: Prince) if he gets enough minutes. |

I had no idea Jax could play like this. Instead of fouling like a maniac, he put up effective stats today. |

There is a diamond in there.
His play tonight was pretty great, actually. His offensive rebounding was good. His hands around the basket were solid. His finishing of plays around the rim was great. His defense, whether helping on screens, or challenging 7'3 guys with a flying challenge that caused misses, was exceptional.
I think a big sign of his growth was his improved screen setting tonight. He wasn't rushing into people, he was setting the screens effectively without getting the foul and causing a turnover. He was putting himself in a position to pass the ball before just laying it out there for someone to take, or hastily jumping into someone to free up a teammate for his pass.
He is still only 23, and as someone who watched him since he came into the league he has improved. The key is does he continue to improve, and I see areas where he does look better, let us see more. I also like how he is getting help from his teammates, according to twitter sources at the games, where teammates are showing him how to defend certain plays, or AD showing him plays on a tablet to give him advice during the games. |

post game press conference Hayes
was talking about his DNP month and how it was all for practicing and learning and he sounded like he really soaked it in
said the assistant coaches were working with him constantly on showing hands and not fouling and he worked out constantly and watched films too |

Double-Double (16 Pts. 10 Rbs. 3 Stl, 2 Ast.), good defense, great energy and effort!
Definitely Jaxon's best game as a Laker. Hopefully he can keep it up. |

Great game by Hayes tonight, 3 steals?!! I noticed he plays well with D'Lo/AR than he does with Bron. |

Hayes may make some boneheaded plays from time to time.
But he'll always be there to hustle and in the pick and roll. Games like this are why people saw upside with him. You keep his confidence high and you benefit. He outplayed Wood tonight by a country mile. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Incredible game. Nice to see on of our benchwarmers dominate for a change. It only ever happens by others against us, it seems. |
