Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, was stabbed by another inmate and seriously injured Friday at a federal prison in Arizona, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

Shame they didn’t finish the job.

Damn, I hope it was somebody with a life sentence and not a new prisoner who was handed a shank for a “heart check” and just turned a 2 year sentence in to a 20 year sentence. And I thought police were segregated because they are targets.

So did I. He was moved to a medium-security Arizona federal prison. It houses men and women. It's probably a less stringent setting.

They are. Apparently this prison is know for lax security measures.

Not when the “victim” is a disgusting POS who abused their role as a police officer to slowly and calmly torture someone to death. It’s unfortunate that you’re one of those people with the gross mindsets supports that kind of thing.

It’s prison. It’s called a shiv.

Then sentence the man to death.

The fellow prisoner tried to accomplish what the judicial system didn’t. What does that have to do with coming after me with your BS judgement?

So do we want prisoners to be the arbiters of right and wrong or do we have a functioning justice system? Our prison system is completely broken and incidents like this, regardless if the person deserved it or not, are a damn blight on our country. That people cheer it from the sidelines is what makes me shake my head. What about the person who was wrongly sent to prison and then gets shanked?

I’ve been watching a lot of “prisonTok” videos lately because someone from my high school was just arrested for murdering his wife and in-laws in Tarzana. Apparently, sometimes you get a “heart check” where you are expected to fight a group of 4 or 5 guys, but this is mostly for younger prisoners. Older prisoners get a “heart check” where they are handed a shiv and expected to shank somebody. If this was the case, i have no shame in admitting I have more sympathy for the person who shived Chauvin out of fear of being raped and beat for the duration of his stay if he wasn’t “clicked up”.

I’m happy to get into an in depth discussion of where our judicial system fails in regards to how LEOs get away with murder too often or how our prison system is completely (bleep) up. But if you’re going to try impugn my character because I have no sympathy that Chauvin survived a prison shank, I’m more than shaking my head in your direction.

Fair enough. I didn't mean to imply that you personally were a (bleep) person or anything. It's possible to appreciate the irony of a murderous LEO finally feeling for one minute what his victim felt for ten while still saying that this type of thing should not happen in prison.

Did he show signs that he would do something like that?

Oh yeah!

Maybe we can say Derek Chauvin deserves to get killed since he murdered George Floyd. But it's not right for a human being to kill Chauvin, imo.

Yes, this is fair. But I'm certainly not going to shed a tear if the mf'er dies.

He should have ingested the fentanyl that killed Floyd.

Derek Chauvin, convicted in George Floyd’s death, in stable condition after stabbing, lawyer says prison officials told him

Erickson previously told CNN Chauvin’s family wasn’t alerted about the incident and his parents hadn’t been able to reach him.

Erickson said he believes the agency won’t share details due to medical privacy, but they are really to try and keep the story out of the media. CNN has reached out to the Bureau of Prisons for comment.
