They're actually far from that..Mike Shinoda has got some skills on the mic. And Styles of Beyond have been on the Cali underground rap scene for a while now. BTW I thought the track was sick when I first heard it, nice song for the playoffs.

Kidnap Oprah!

Not as funny as the SouthPark, but the Boondocks episode with Oprah was pretty damn funny too...

PostPosted: Sat Apr 29, 2006 10:05 am    Post subject: Snoop Arrested At Heathrow Airport

Snoop Dogg was arrested at Heathrow airport last night after a stand-off with police.

Up to 20 police with 10 dogs sped to a fracas which allegedly broke out when some of Snoop's entourage tried to blag their way into a business lounge.

Witnesses described seeing Snoop, 34, screaming at his minders, who began smashing champagne bottles. The hip-hop star - real name Calvin Broadus - was led away in handcuffs.

One witness said: "It was absolute chaos - there was broken glass everywhere and it looked like it was on the brink of turning really nasty. It wasn't clear what sparked it but Snoop was livid."

Another said the rapper became incensed with his minders and "was having a real go at them, swearing and being abusive."

"His guys went mad, smashing glass and causing havoc and the Police were there in a flash, swarming in from all directions with their truncheons at the ready. After a stand-off they were all led away."

One witness alleged the fracas began after Snoop and his 50 strong entourage - most of whom were flying economy class - tried to blag their way into the BA business class lounge at Terminal 1 but were refused entry.

A Heathrow source said the group flew in from Los Angeles and were waiting for a flight to Johannesburg.

The source said: "To my knowledge only three people had first class tickets - the majority were flying economy. Some were refused entry to the business class lounge and became difficult."

BA said: "There was an incident involving a group of passengers at our lounge where some passengers were rude and abusive to our staff and that's something we do not tolerate."

Scotland Yard said: "Police were alerted to a disturbance. Police attempted to direct the group to baggage reclaim. Members of the group then became abusive and pushed officers.

"Five men were arrested for violent disorder and affray. All are in custody at a West London police station."

Snoop was due to headline a series of huge music events in South Africa called the People's Celebration and was meant to play in Johannesburg tonight.

The star, who has served time for drug offences, is being sued for £12.3million by a fan who says he was beaten unconscious after jumping on stage at a US gig.

Nelly has agreed to pay $20,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by freelance photographer Jerry Livingston, who claimed he was beaten up by the rapper's bodyguard during a concert in Bridgeport, CT last year.

Livingston says he was dragged to the side of the stage, thrown on the ground and pummeled because it was believed that he was videotaping the event, which took place on April 12, 2005. Livingston sprained his knee and had neck and back pain, according to his lawyer, Mark Arons.

The case was on the verge of going to trial when the two parties agreed to a settlement, which included no admission of guilt on Nelly's part, Arons said. He added that Nelly's security company will pay Livingston $3,000.

Meanwhile, Livingston has lawsuits pending against the city, the Arena at Harbor Yard, where the concert took place, and the company that manages the arena.

King of pop Michael Jackson’s first comeback song will be out within weeks and will feature hip-hop stars like 50 Cents and his G-Unit talent.

The song, "Trial of Century", features 50 Cent, Lucy Diamonds and DJ Whoo Kid, whose mixtape MJ Unit-The Takeover, will contain five unreleased Jackson songs, reports Ratethemusic.

Jackson is working on his first studio album since Invincible released in 2001 in Bahrain, where he now resides.

Two Seas Records is a joint venture between Jackson and Abdulla Hamad Al-Khalifa. UK record executive Guy Holmes has been appointed as the CEO of the label and will also be tasked with managing Jackson's other business interests.

PostPosted: Sat Apr 29, 2006 10:06 am    Post subject: Cassidy Speaks On His Jail Time

In his first interview since being released from jail last month, "I’m A Hustla" rapper Cassidy tells MTV News that he was able to endure the nine-month bid by listening to the radio, praying and writing letters to his hip hop colleague, Lil’ Kim, who was incarcerated in Philadelphia at the same time.

"Trials are crazy, especially in Philadelphia," Cassidy said. "The way they try to prosecute you, it's just crazy. Anybody can come and give a statement, and they'll just lock you up. The system is kinda crazy. [The trial] was one of the worst situations I've been through, sitting in the jail, knowing that I should be out in the street. It could go one way and you can be home again, or you could be gone forever. It was hard to go though it. But through my faith in God, I was able to go through it and come out a lot better than people thought."

Cassidy was in jail for five months awaiting the outcome of his trial in connection with the April 15 killing of 22-year-old Desmond Hawkins, which eventually resulted in his conviction on charges of involuntary manslaughter. When asked to comment on the situation leading to his arrest, the Philly rapper opted to keep quiet instead.

"I could explain it, but I'm not really interested in explaining it right now," he said. "I'm not proud of the situation. Somebody lost their life. When I think about the situation, I think about the shoe on the other foot. If I was the family of the person who got shot, I wouldn't want somebody on TV [talking about the killing]. I'm trying to leave that where it's at."

The answer, perhaps, shows the level of maturity Cassidy says he reached during his months in prison.

"I learned a lot in going through this experience," he said. "Now that it's all over, I'm happy. I can benefit from the situation, getting closer to God, my real friends, people I work with, understanding how everything is supposed to move, not taking everything for granted. When you lose things you take for granted, you realize how important they are. Like, a bottle of spring water is something you can't get access to in jail."

Cassidy says he’s anxious to get back in the studio and start laying down tracks of all the songs he created, but was unable to flush out while on lockdown.

"I've been waiting for so long to go back to the studio. There's so many thoughts roaming through my head," he said. "It shouldn't take me that long to finish the third album. I'm looking forward to having a single by the summer."

"Snoop opened his little black book and called everybody up," Snoop's cousin Daz told MTV from the set at L.A.’s Elysian Park, near Dodger Stadium.

Explaining the song’s title, Kurupt said: "The song represents the West Coast as a whole. We're pushing [it] as one positive thing." The Cali Iz Active album is due June 27, while Kurupt's next solo LP, Same Day, Different (bleep), comes out June 20, and Daz's first solo LP on Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label, So So Gangsta, drops July 18.

Cafeteria lunches – usually horrific in both taste and effect on the body – is at the center of a new contest from rapper 50 Cent as part of his new campaign to encourage healthy eating habits among today’s youth.

The artist is the spokesman and judge for a new nationwide cooking competition sponsored by Glaceau, which is partly owned by the rapper and distributes his grape-flavored Vitamin Water drink, Formula 50.

The contest, aimed at preventing childhood obesity by improving eating habits, students in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle are invited to create the most "nutrient-rich" cafeteria lunch recipe, with the winner receiving a $100,000 college scholarship.

Fifty, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, says his famous arms and six-pack abs are the result of regular exercise and healthy eating, but he admits his attitude toward nutrition wasn’t always on point.

"I had all of the unhealthy habits," the 29-year-old told the Associated Press. "Soda ... a lot of fast food, all those things."

But with platinum selling records, a label and a Reebok sneaker line contributing to his bank account these days, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is much easier for the New York native.

"I have someone that I can actually have prepare the food for me, so it's a huge difference than just getting McDonald's or Burger King," he said, adding that he tries to avoid sweets, and sneaks soda only when it’s "available." He chooses instead to keep his fridge stocked with Glaceau beverages.

"It's a better reflection of my lifestyle," he said. "I don't drink alcohol and I don't need an energy drink."

PostPosted: Sat Apr 29, 2006 10:09 am    Post subject: Jay-Z's Manager Admits R. Kelly Assault

epper-spraying singer R. Kelly backstage at New York’s Madison Square Garden during the artists’ doomed Best of Both Worlds tour.

Smith, a childhood friend of Jay-Z and a vice president at Def Jam Records, entered the guilty plea as part of a deal that allows the executive to avoid jail time, reports the New York Post. Also under the deal, the charge would be cleared from his criminal record if he completes four days of community service and two days of anger-management counseling.

But the pepper spray matter isn’t over for Ty-Ty. He and Jay-Z still face a civil lawsuit from Kelly for $91 million, which also includes a claim of breach of contract for canceling their 2004 tour.

While Kelly claims the pepper-spraying was part of a campaign to derail the ill-fated tour, Jay-Z says R. Kelly's lawsuit is a frivolous move to deflect attention from the crooner’s upcoming child pornography trial.

PostPosted: Sat Apr 29, 2006 9:30 pm    Post subject: Family Of Proof Shooting Victim Afraid

The family of the man allegedly shot by D12 rapper Proof fears retaliation by the artist’s associates, and says they have been purposely keeping a low profile despite being eager to tell their story.

"We are absolutely terrified for our safety," said the aunt of former Army sergeant Keith Bender Jr., who was shot by Proof during an altercation at Detroit’s CCC nightclub on Eight Mile Road. "We wanted to talk to the media long ago, but we were afraid for our lives, therefore we've been keeping kind of a low profile."

The aunt, who would not give her name for safety reasons, says the family is attempting to scrape together money to pay for a funeral service scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday (April 27) at New Galilee Baptist Church (11241 Gunston in Detroit).

The organization Peace in the Hood donated $1,000 to the family for Bender’s burial, and a Keith Bender Memorial Fund has been established at Chase Bank, the family said. Donations to the fund may be given at any Chase Bank branch.

Meanwhile, Detroit police continue to investigate the incident, which also resulted in the death of Bender’s alleged shooter, Proof. The rapper, whose real name is DeShaun Holton, was allegedly shot by Bender’s cousin, a 28-year-old bouncer for the club named Mario Etheridge. Authorities have charged Etheridge with carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm inside a building. He maintains his shooting of Proof was in self defense.

Proof's friend and fellow D12 member Swift has been sentenced to 93 days in an Oakland County jail after missing a court hearing to attend his childhood friends funeral. Swift, born Ondre Moore, was arrested in a Detroit suburb and sentenced to more than three months for violating the terms of his probation in a drunk driving case.

District Court Judge Brian MacKenzie issued a warrant for Swift's arrest the same day he served as a pallbearer at Proof's funeral. According to court records, the 31-year-old Detroit rapper tested positive for alcohol, despite being court-ordered to remain free of drugs and alcohol. Swift allegedly tested positive for having alcohol in his system with blood alcohol levels reaching. 079 and .084 last week.

PostPosted: Tue May 02, 2006 8:43 am    Post subject: Proof's Estate Sued By Family Of Deceased Bouncer

The family of Keith Bender, the bouncer allegedly shot by Proof of D-12, has filed a lawsuit against Proof’s estate.

The lawsuit was lodged by the deceased bouncers loved ones – wife Jacqueline and mother Leona – and stated that Proof "violently assaulted and battered [Bender], culminating with the infection of a gunshot injury that caused the death of Mr. Bender."

Proof’s lawyer was unable to comment, however Michael Cafferty, a lawyer for the Bender family said, "It's shameful that Mr. Holton is being lauded as a hero and martyr, when in fact, it was his own criminalistic conduct that not only led to his death, but took the life of an honorable, innocent man."

Both Keith Bender and Proof (aka Deshaun Holton) were killed in the altercation last month that took place at the CCC Nightlcub, 8 Mile Road.

PostPosted: Tue May 02, 2006 8:43 am    Post subject: Lil' Kim In Prison Lockdown

Lil Kim, who is currently serving a 366 day sentence for perjury, is in a state of lockdown at Philadelphia Federal Detention Centre.

The lockdown, which has been in effect since April 21st, was supposedly ordered following a discovery that a visitor had tried to smuggle a mobile phone in to an inmate.

Although FDC Authorities have refused to comment, rumours have circulated that Lil Kim was the intended recipient of the cell phone. Lil Kims legal team strongly refute the murmurs.

“The rumours that Kim was using a cell phone or had someone sneak a cell phone into the prison for her are completely untrue,” said Kim’s lawyer, James J Leonard Junior. “While her unit is on lock-down and has been since April 21, the reason for the lockdown has nothing to do with Kim."

As previously reported Lil Kim began serving her sentence last September.

She filmed a reality TV show Countdown To Lockdown, prior to her incarnation.

PostPosted: Tue May 02, 2006 8:43 am    Post subject: Hot 97 Under Surveillance; Faces Eviction

The popular hip-hop radio station Hot 97 will be permanently monitored by the New York Police Department as of this week.

Due to a long history of violence outside of the station, the NYPD has deemed it necessary to install a permanent surveillance camera which will monitor Hot 97's broadcasting building twenty-four hours a day.

This particular camera, the first of five-hundred cameras erected in a $9-million crack down on New York street crime, is being established for the sole purpose of discouraging musically orientated violence outside of the radio station’s HQ at 395 Hudson Street.

A police source told the New York Daily News that “we’ll keep it in place until Hot 97 is evicted or cleans up its act.”

Last week rapper Gravy, who was due to appear on the radio station, was shot in the buttocks by an unknown assailant.

“It was a clean shot. It went straight through and just missed my pelvis bone and my stomach area to make me have a (bleep) bag," said Gravy. “It's all about luck, it was eleven rounds and I only took one hit."

The New York City District Council of Carpenters, the owners of the building in which the radio station is housed, has moved to evict the business from the premises – a move strongly supported by local tenants.

Attorney for the organisation Brian O'Dwyer told the New York Daily News that “lawyers will be meeting with their clients [today] and examining all their options.”
