Based on the recruits that PC got, the allegations regarding the program doesn't seem to be an immeditate theat. I just find it laughable that the reports are at the cusp/height of the recruiting season. It seems to happen to a lot of big, winning programs. _________________ Lakers | Dodgers | ACFC | COYS | LA Kings | Rams |

Seems like it was more of what everyone was hoping for rather than what was truth. Pete still robbed Arizona of their top two prospects and is working on #1 in Arkansas. |

If RoJo wants to play WR he is definatley going to the wrong school because he will not see the field for some time.
SC is absolutely loaded at WR.
He was recruited as a CB and I am almost certain that is where he will play.
Hell, he could start by the end of next year at CB.
Because he has good hands and can play WR doesn not mean he will.
It just means he will catch more interception opportunities than most DBs.
Warren definelty has better CB technique but RoJo is the better athlete.
I think PC can coach him up a bit. _________________ Let the PAB hold out 2 years and walk without his Bird rights if he chooses.

NestT, I have also read that USC is bringing him in as a WR and that is what Carroll recruited him for. |

Patrick Turner
Vidal Hazelton
David Ausberry
Jamere Holland
Travon Patterson
Damien Williams
Plus
Brandon Carswell in this class.
I don't care that Rivals has him listed as a WR.
I seriously doubt that he plays WR.
There is so much talent, more experienced talent.
And a lack of depth at CB.
Other than Terrell Thomas everyone else is mediocre at best.

Yeah what Rivals lists him as doesn't matter. But the mods at the Michigan site have said that's what USC is bringing him in as. Doesn't make much sense to me so we will have to wait and see. |

Keven Thomas, Cary Harris et al. |
I thought Cary Harris played very, very well late in the season, maybe since the Oregon game on through to the end.
The CBs are three-deep on each side: Terrell Thomas, Mozique McCurtis and Shareece Wright, then Cary Harris, Kevin Thomas and Vincent Joseph. Wright and Joseph obviously are untested. The safties get Pinkard back and get Mays back a year older and better. The defense is going to be very, very good in '07.
That said, all I'm hearing is Johnson is being brought in as a CB.
The rest of this SC class is just crazy. With all the LB depth, Carroll still gets the #1 LB in the nation. With all the RB depth, SC still gets Marc Tyler and is in the running for either McNight or Green. With all the WR depth, there's still Carswell (Williams will sit out '07).
It's amazing what some of these guys can do, Carroll, Meyer and apparently Zook. |

Noel Devine to West Virgina. For some reason, I figured he'd end up with Florida, and some say he won't even end up going to WVU, but good luck to him either way - he's a spectacular player. |

I guess its a chicken and egg question. Did the CBs(Cary) look better because the d-line finally got pressure on the QB or did the d-line finally have time to get to the QB becuase the CBs(Cary) started doing their job?
I am in the d-line finally showed up so the CBs(Cary) looked better camp. NO one can prove their position either way. I guess PC's opinion would have considerable weight though.

Scout is listing him as a CB and the powers that be at wearesc.com say he is playing CB. That being said who really knows but RoJo and Pete? _________________ Let the PAB hold out 2 years and walk without his Bird rights if he chooses.

I'm still a little shocked that Pete Carroll was able to bring in both McNight and Green. The RB situation looks pretty good.
It's an amazing class for SC again.
Austin signing with NC was a bit of a surprise. Michigan has a good class working, and I don't know that anyone's class runs as deep as Florida's. |

Stafon,Green,Bradford are going to compete for that "thunder" power back spot.
Moody, CJ,McKnight will compete for the "lightning" scat back spot.
Tyler and Washington are those classic single/every-down back types.
I don't see SC trying to work Washington in to the rotation now that he is a Sr. As soon as he really learns how to play(pass protection) he is gone.
I can't see McKnight losing that scat back role.
Maybe Tyler competes for the power back role.
In any case injuries and possibly transfers may dictate the rotation.
Maybe Stafon, Green or Bradford play full-back.
Nice problem to have.
If only we had the same problem on the defensive line and at cornerback _________________ Let the PAB hold out 2 years and walk without his Bird rights if he chooses.

Wolfe is saying that PC saved a schollie and that Mitch Mustain will be visiting within two weeks.
Why on earth he would come with Sanchez and Air Corp already here I don't know.
But hey why not Noel.... you can run multiple backs and maybe move RBs to CB but you really should stay away from platooning at QB.
Unless you have tradional pocket passer like Leak and a Tebow that is really a full-back who has an option to pass. _________________ Let the PAB hold out 2 years and walk without his Bird rights if he chooses.

And we cannot forget Havili and Michael Coleman and FB options either. Although I heard some grumbling about Coleman leaving, I talked to his HS coach recently and he said he knows nothing of Michael not being happy at SC.
However it works out, like you said it's a nice problem to have. These last two recruiting classes have been unreal. Obviously the last 5 have been, but there are lots of guys from last years class that haven't even seen the field yet, or have gotten very limited time. |

With all this big name talent does anyone think SC will start to have the problem of guys transfering.
take Sanchez for example, wasn't he like the #1 QB when he came out? Wouldn't he be better off transfering? |

With the stable of RBs, yes, it wouldn't shock me if someone decided to go elsewhere, so they can get on the field.
With Sanchez, no way. First off, he'll battle Booty for the #1 QB spot this spring and fall. Pete Carroll has no positions locked up going into camp, regardless of whether you were the starter last year or not. Then, if Booty retains the #1 spot, Sanchez will be the leading candidate in '08 and it'll be his team for 2 years - the same situation Booty has gone through, and the same situation Leinart went through. After that, it's Corp's to lose, and so on. |

Scout released their rankings of the '07 classes, and the top 5 are:
Florida
LSU
USC
Texas
Tennessee
SC and Florida both have 12 top-100 guys.
LSU has 7 top-100s and Texas ended up with 5.
UCLA comes in at #36 with 2 top-100.
Other notables are Michigan #10 (5 top-100), Ohio State at #16 (4 top-100), Notre Dame #11 (5), Oklahoma #30 (1), and Florida State #33 (1) |

Tyler is a great LB, but I think he is a much better RB. Not sure how the broken leg is going to affect things as far as a redshirt. He'll definitely get the opportunity to do both. His running style reminds me a little of Deshaun Foster, though people want to compare him to Wendell.
Ventura, what did I hear yesterday - something in the range of 20+ players from Ventura county got D-1 scholorships yesterday? Could have been much more than that actually. Between St. Bonny and OC, it had to be more than 20 right there. |

Yep, and it's got a lot of people upset and questioning the tactics. Here's the story from the NY Times, and they have John L Smith quoted as saying 'where there's smoke, there's fire'. However, Smith was on Lemming's show yesterday and downplayed it when Gottfried brought it up (Gottfried was on fire about it yesterday too, saying the Times article was BS).
I think it may be just a case of staffs upset that Zook continues to pull the talent, regardless of where he is. |

I read Tyler was going to be a LB because his dad told him that LB's don't take nearly as many big hits as RB's so it would be better for his long term career to play LB. |

Secondary status violations. McKnight has retracted his statement. Said he misspoke at his press conference. Not used to answering so many questions so quickly.
Probably did speak to Bush but impossible to prove.
There are these sort of violations in almost all programs every year.
But becuase it is the overall #1 recruit and SC it makes front page news.
