|
|
On Sept. 22, there will be a huge football game between two high schools currently ranked #1 and #4 in SoCal when St. Bonaventure plays against Oaks Christian. The game will be played at Ventura High's Larrabee stadium, and I think it will be broadcast on one of the Fox Sports outlets. Bonny is ranked #1 in SoCal, and has lost one game in the last 6 or 7 years. Oaks Christian is ranked #4 and has Jimmy Clausen at QB and Wendell Tyler's son at RB. In their first game, Clausen was 7 out of 8 for 275 yards and 4 touchdown. Bonny boasts a huge defensive line, including a couple of 300-pounders. The USA Today has Bonny ranked 17th in the country, and Oaks Christian 12th. If you are a fan of high school football, don't miss this game. I already have my tickets. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Thanks for the heads up, Ventura. Clausen, of course, is a Notre Dame commit and Marc Tyler is an SC commit. St. Bonaventure, I think, if I am remembering correctly, had both Whitney Lewis and Lorenzo Booker at the same time.
Also, tonight is Mission Viejo vs. Mater Dei on FSN. Johnson vs. Rollo. Should be a good one, with MV #1 in Orange County and MD #2. |

Bonny did have Lewis and Booker. And while Booker is playing steady minutes at Florida State, Lewis blew his chance at USC. Showed up overweight and never played.
By the way, Bonny beat Canyon this weekend, a 2005 State Champion. If they can knock off Oaks Christian, that would be two champions in a row. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Oaks Christian blew St. Bonny out. I will tell you one thing, I watched that game live (and later on tape), and then watched college games on Saturday. I saw no one in a college game that could throw the ball better than Jimmy Clausen. If you are a Notre Dame fan, thank the good lord above that he has committed to the Irish. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Too many HS players fizzle out at the next level. I'm also biased and hate the Irish, so maybe it's more an issue with me not wanting him to do well at the next level for the Irish.
Have you seen the Noel Devine highlights. Best RB to come out of Fla in a while and most have him rated as the #1 or #2 RB in the nation. He's small but has speed and vision and can easily break tackles at the HS level. |

Noel is an amazing back, and there's plenty of tape out there on him, but I think that extra baggage he carries might be scaring some schools off. He's freakish, though, to be sure.
That said, Clausen has absolutely amazing technique. Great footwork, always has the ball up high, perfect form and amazing vision. He absolutely shredded the St. Bonny D, and it didn't help matters having Tyler run wild like he did. They went to Clausen early with the short, quick throws, and then Tyler went nuts in the 2nd quarter and 2nd half. OC took all the air out of that stadium early, and St. Bonny never recovered. I didn't realize Clay Matthews was the D-Coordinator for OC.
I can't recall the kid's name from St. Bonaventure... Patrick Something, only a sophomore WR. He's already very, very talented and will only get better. |

How good is Tyler? I hear him mentioned in the same breath as Devine and Caleb King. King reminds me a little of CJ Spiller who's now at Clemson. |
