So I got into this debate with some buddies and I say it's Kobayashi, the greatest competitive eater ever.

Some of the people got really obscure, so it basically came down to Kobayashi and Tiger. It was also agreed by the majority that golf is not a real sport.

Golf is a game of skill like darts, bowling, poker, billiards, etc. Figure skating is more of a sport than golf.

I have to agree golf is as much a sport as Ping Pong.
Tiger is the winner.

BS.... figure skating is an exhibition; all the competitors points are derived from or based on somebody's opinion. There is no true define winner,.. just an opinion. One of the criteria for sport/competition is that it has to have a clear and defined winner... when it's determined based solely on somebody's opinion, it's an exhibition... Golf has a clear and define winner

Like poker, .... poker is a game of chance with odds thrown in... golf is nothing of the sort...

I'd say boxing isn't a sport.

And neither is race car driving.

With a real sport, there is no question that it requires physical skill, strength, endurance and an elite level of athleticism to compete. No one questions whether basketball is a real sport. There are many people that would question whether golf or curling are real sports with real athletes. Athletes like golfers are skilled participants in games like darts and curling.

You can interpret the title of the thread in any way you want but golf is not a real sport and golfers aren't real athletes.

Golfer don't have physical skill? You're joking right? Strength? Endurance? Who said anything about curling? We were talking about golf and Tiger.

There's no need to argue this point with you...

They also show bass fishing on ESPN. Does that make it a sport?

Same with spelling bees. A sport?

I don't see how any one could vote against the Icon, the Living Legend, the unstoppable force in Competitve Eating, the Great Kobayashi!

I didn't say golfers didn't have any physical skill, but they aren't elite athletes and they participate in a game, not a real sport. They lack most of the physical characteristics, mainly athleticism, that separate athletes in real sports from golfers.

Golf is not a real sport. Thus, Tiger is not a real athlete. Therefore, we are comparing Tiger vs Kobayashi as the most dominant in their respective professions.

It all comes down to Tiger being beatable while Kobayashi can't be beat by any other human.

i take offense to the notion that competitive eating is not a sport. you have to be in incredible physical condition like kobayashi in order to dominate like he does and you also need to go through brutal training. eating is a sport and kobayashi is the most dominant athlete in ANY sport.

golf is not a sport.

Kobayshai is unstoppable

There's a SportsCenter Ad on iTunes that involves the Hot Dog King. You can download it for free.
