The movie looks good but how the Autobots and Decepticons look are freakin horrible. Maybe except Optimus Prime. Scorponok looks cool in beast mode but looks more worse in robot mode than any of the Transformers.

yeah, michael bay movies always suck (ok, except for "the rock"). i mean this is the same guy who brought us armageddon, pearl harbor, bad boys2, the island. i wanted to kill myself halfway through those movies.

wrong director choice for this movie, but i'll still catch it since i grew up on the transformers and even michael bay wont stop me from seeing it. obviously the movie will be visually stunning with non-stop action... and it will be loud, thats for sure. in the end, it will be a good popcorn summer type movie. when you walk out the theater you'll likely forget that you even saw it and will just tell people it was "good".

If Michael Bay's movies were any less subtle they'd announce showtimes via air siren.

anyway, I'll be there too

Well...hopefully Steven Speilburg's involvment will balance out Michael Bay's inept film making. I personally think the transformers look good...their design actually looks functional.

The human-like forms of the robots look too distracting. Like the endoskeleton from the Terminator movies.

I am just waiting to see Chip and Bumblebee in this movie.

Come on now fellas, it's the freakin Transformers. I'm not a big Michael Bay fan either, but you surely didn't expect Chris Nolan or Peter Jackson to direct a flick like this. If you are going into this movie thinking you'll see some oscar-worthy performances and some Tarantino-like dialogue, you will no doubt leave the theater dissappointed. It's a summer popcorn flick... about robots that turn into things...

munich? eh
AI? massacred what would have been the last work of the greatest director of all time
the terminal? sucked
the lost world? sucked
amistad? pretty much sucked.
hook? sucked.
always? sucked.
1941? sucked.
war of the worlds? good god did that suck.

i give spielberg credit for schindler's list, saving private ryan, catch me if you can (which is good but not great) and close encounters. minority report is good too.

his movies are feel good fun for the whole family shlockfests with very little depth. he's made WAY more bad movies than he's made good ones.

compare him with actual genius filmmakers with flawless or near flawless records....steven doesn't hold up.

I stand corrected.

I liked Munich, and War of the Worlds...but your list is pretty much correct. His good movies (SPR, Schindler's List, Minority Report, etc.) seriously overshadow his long list of weak films. A perfect example of the evils of marketing at work.

i wonder what kind of mpg optimus prime gets.

always negative? hmm i'm many things but i'd hardly say that. a transformers movie could be cool but the chances that it is while in the hands of that particular filmmaker is very unlikely. put the transformers concept in the hands of say...james cameron? you'd have one helluva picture.

actually since titanic was a remake of the 1953 film, which was also a love story, he didn't "transform" anything. he kept the love story and inserted some of the best special effect sequences of all time....making it a love story AND an action movie. can you imagine what michael bay would have done to that movie? yikes...

I still think Bay was a good choice for this one.

The guy who did the last Batman (which was really really good) might have been a cool choice also. How good was that last Batman, dude?

By the way< they should have renamed "The Departed" to "WigSplit". That movie was GNARLY.

the last batman saved the franchise ruined by tim burton and anally raped by joel schumacher. nolan's sensibilities wouldn't work for transformers imo. he was more suited for the dark, brooding batman. batman is all psychological, and anyone who has seen memento can tell you why he was perfect for that.

michael bay like a kid with ADD who got a camera for christmas. it's all zooms, pans, shakes, handheld digital chaos. his movies are dizzying but unlike someone like danny boyle or paul greengrass, he doesn't utilize this style for any purpose other than making his movies these fast paced MTV style wank fests. and enough with the saturated colors.

the departed is a master being masterful. it's the best movie of the year and it'll be about damn time marty walks away with a little gold man.
