It would be nice to see the Lakers actually make a move to try to improve the roster. I would have no problem with signing him to a 10 day. Bringing him aboard could only help up us. At least we wouldn't have to give anybody significant away, just a scrub. |

And what "scrub" would that be?
If the Lakers cut McKie, they'll still have to pay him the better part of 2 million.
If they cut Sasha, they'll have to pay him for next year, too, since his deal is guaranteed.
They could cut Shammond - they'd only owe him 1.2 million or so, since his deal is guaranteed.
The Lakers are not going to flush a million or more bucks down the tube to experiment with Penny for 10 days. If they had some non-guaranteed deals to cut before the January 10th deadline, it'd be different, but they don't. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

They will not throw any down the tube, that's true. But if they actually see Penny having the potential to contribute why not. My point is why hold on to players just to sit. I am not trying to say they will actually do anything to aquire any additional talent. My belief is that our current roster is the same one we will have at the end of season. |

i don't know why you guys have such a problem with penny in a limited role. i'm sure he's still got his handling/passing skills and you know he knows the game just as well as anyone. i think you guys are overestimating our pg situation too much. i guess that's LG for you though, everyone on the lakers is an all-star and anyone else is pure crap. |

How about Kendall Gill?
Mitch should really use carbon dating on the specimen before signing them for MLE.
I mean McKiesaurus must have been at least 5 trillion years old when we signed him.
Actually for 5 trillion years, something like technetium might work better. |

I would bring Penny in as long as he's healthy enough to distribute the ball. He'll make better decisions and get more assists than anyone of our PG's on the roster. I would unload Sasha , Shamond or McKee to make room for him now. |

I'd cut McKie for Hardaway in an instant. Penny can rebound, pass and shoot. |

Old, crippled Penny >>> Sasha in his prime
I know there is a lot of the "grass is always greener" on Laker websites, but in this case Penny is a lush fertile meadow while Sasha is primed for a brush fire. |

If you think about, it's flushing money down the tubes either way. What's the difference between paying him to sit on the bench or paying him to sit at home? If Buss is that stingy and would like to get his money's worth, he'll get more for his money if he uses Aaron as his Butler or Bellboy. I think if Penny can help, they'll sign him. |

If they are interested in Penny, then I'd rather see the ending contracts moved in a trade rather than someone being simply cut from the team. I'm wondering, with Kwame and LO out right now, if they're considering looking at what defensive big men could be had for our ending contracts. Mihm, Mckie and Shammond's contracts are valueable as ending contracts. No point of cutting them just to sign someone else. It would be more valuable to trade the contracts together to get 1 or 2 players back. At that point, signing Penny isn't a roster space problem. _________________ Just chill and watch the new Dynasty evolve...
