This guy might be bigger than Kobe worldwide. His wife is pretty hot too.

Been a long time - the Beckams have been trying to get to LA for awhile now.

Posh needs to eat a cheeseburger every now and then before she disappears.

He is way more famous than Kobe is. As for his wife eh I've seen better looking. He is definately the more attractive one in that relationship.

How does a U.S. soccer team make enough money to give out that kind of contract? Is the rest of their roster making minimum wage? Beckham might put them out of business, and that would be his greatest contribution to soccer EVER.

Gonna be interesting to see if his popularity around the world surpasses Kobe's own popularity here considering Kobe is LA.

Beckham sure has the weirdest voice though.

The LA Galaxy's parent company is a multi-billion dollar corporation that also owns Staples Center, LA Kings, three other MLS franchises among other sports and non-sports properties.

In this deal Becks makes "up to" $250M including marketing deals and incentives. I guess he has to win 5 MLS championship, 5 league MVPs, lead the league in goals for 5 years, and sell a whole lotta soccer "boots", jerseys or " vest", beer and what not to get to the full $250M. I think that figure is mostly hype by the MLS to generate BUZZ.

I wounder what happens to Landon Donovan?

If he stays that is one heck of an MLS midfield.

If we're talking $50 M in one year, is that the biggest per year contract ever given to an athelete? Anyone know?

nice to be making a million bucks a week. "hey, what did you do this week?"... "ah nothin, just made a million bucks... whats up with you?"

that 250 mil has to include endorsements though. i doubt thats all his mls salary. i would think he's already got a big adidas/pepsi endorsement already put together which has been included in that 250 mil.

check out mls salaries

^^^imagine that convo. getting a cup of coffee at starbucks in the morning. some guy coming up to you and saying, "hey the Dow is down 10points, and your guys adidas took a nice hit". You reply,"thats unfortunate. But guess what? I made another million this week."

crazy. just crazy. someone tell him PnP isn't homeless or hungry but a Mil ticket would sure help out with the bills.

This is a huge deal. Beckham is a huge brand all over the world and will bring huge attention to the MLS.

On a side note.....

I don't know if you guys are aware but there are Americans playing in the English Premiership and doing quite well. Landon Donovan and Freddy Adu are not that great(Landon Donovan flamed out white playing in Germany) These guys are the future of US Soccer

That is an amazing amount of money! They must not have a salary cap. Can anyone name another player making half that amount?
