It is not Laker-related, but I post in on here because Stephen A. Smith has come out on occasion and defended Kobe Bryant when many other media entertainers (some may call them journalists, but I don't) wouldn't even think about it.
He'll still be on ESPN and doing NBA analysis for Sportscenter.

I'm not shocked. Brotha was a bit too..."real" for some tastes. He would keep it REALLY real and that usually doesn't sit well with a lot of people.
Cool cat though. _________________

He was loud, but I thought his interviews were pretty solid.
Since they were one hour long, you got to hear at least SOMETHING more in depth and different than the typical questions and answers.
Ah well, good luck to Screamin A and his future endeavors. |

I can do without some of his attitude, but the show was better than a lot of the other crap interview shows out there. And yeah, he generally asked better questions and wasn't afraid to take things where others wouldn't go.
Too bad... |

The point of view he presents is needed to diversify the airwaves and to differentiate between himself and the other pundits and talking heads that are on television. He was a breath of fresh air, even though he was sometimes annoying while doing it. _________________ "A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste" - United Negro College Fund 1972 |

Smith was a bit over the top, but you have to respect him simply becasue he called with no bias and never held back. I loved watching him with Dreww Rosenhaus (T.O's agent) he called him out and di not hold back. I will miss his show it was honest and to the point, even though his approach was a bit over the top. _________________ “What is 17,505”

The real - damn bad news for outspoken journalist who actually have interviews with sports personalities that give us insight of what is going on. Bad news for us as fans to have diversity in the muck we get fed daily.
I should have supported better. I take the blame for not watching enough. _________________ Stop crying and start doing.

The cheering studio audience turned me off. Also, he always seemed to waste time sputtering about how great his guests were. While he did a lot of things well, it would have been a better show with a different format. SAS would be stronger in a PTI style format, with someone else to play off of. As a solo act, he wasn't as good as Jim Rome, and I don't care much for Rome. |

Well, unless you have a Nielsen box in your home, then I don't think there was anything a lot of us could have done. _________________

I guess this can be added to Dave Chappelle's skit:
"When keeping it real goes wrong!"
Nah just kidding, I only really watched his show when Kobe was on it or when I'm channel surfing and I see something of interest. I don't have a problem with Steven A Smith, I like the guy, he was entertaining to me ! _________________ Who Rules? O'Doyle Rules! |

Always found the guy annoying. Never seemed to have much of an original take on anything, or backed up any of his crazy takes. Seemed to be around just because he was loud and said provocative things. I much prefer "boring" guys that know their stuff like David Aldrige. |

I liked the show, it was a good show. Too bad BSPN put him on BSPN2, put him on primetime, and didn't promote the show. Every week he would have a good guest on, but you never knew about it, unless you happened to flip it there- not shocked, but I wish it didn't get cancelled... |

I actually enjoyed, "Quite Frankly," but rarely watched because that was a bad time for me. I only watched if there was a particular guest I wanted to see. when it was first on it was in the evening and I watched it more then, than when it moved to 11. _________________ "I define success by championships, by winning..." He was extremely boring. All he did was yell at everyone. Just calm the f*** down and talk sports. His act got very old really quick. _________________ M-V-P |
