I wouldn't make that trade, as I've become quite the Odom fan over the last couple years. I'd love to have Okafur's shot-blocking, but Lamar's too high a price.
That said, suicide is not necessary...FAR worse trades are suggested each and every day. _________________ Dumbledore closed his eyes and slowly lowered his head before Kupchak. "Teach me," he whispered.

I should put out there that Emeka would be an outstanding addition if we could get him without losing Kobe, Lamar, or Andrew (haha). The guy is a defensive stud and extremely smart. I don't know what his jumpshot-range is like, but if he could hit the 12-16 foot jumper consistantly he'd be the triangle-PF of our dreams. _________________ Dumbledore closed his eyes and slowly lowered his head before Kupchak. Perhaps but I can understand his angst!! I suppose he could have found a nicer way to say it?!? _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain

Neither team would do it. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

As a Laker fan i wouldn't trade Lamar for Okafur. As much as i like his game,he is not as versatile as Lamar. _________________ It's Showtiiiime

Believe it or not, I wouldn't make that trade. Okafor is sort of a tweener, and Wallace has no range.
A tweener who ripped our so called best man defender and potential DPOY a new one. Imagine a defensive line of Bynum, Okafur and Wallace. Add Kobe and Farmar, and the Lakers would lead the league in opponents FG%. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
Anyway, going back to the original topic Okafor is elite defensively but a poor fit on offense. If there's little hope that Kwame can someday play next to Bynum, then it's almost non-existent for Okafor. IF we trade Odom for a big, it has to be someone who can play 4 in the offense.

Emeka would be hard for anyone to get ahold of. Charlotte has no reason to deal a cheap young star that is supposed to be the face of the franchise. Even when he does get extended, it won't be as much as Odom's deal I bet. Yeah, I agree that he'd be a great player to lockdown the PFs the Lakers have to face, but it isn't happening.

Bynum, Okafur, and Wallace could probably average 8-10 blocks a game between the three of them.
It really is a crazy good defensive lineup. As much as I like LO I might deal him if it netted us both Okafor and Wallace. The big risk is injury issues. Okafor has had back problems since college - never a good sign in someone so young. The way Wallace plays he's an injury waiting to happen - and I think he's missed significant time every year he's been in the league.
Anyway, will never happen, but fun to think of the defensive havoc that lineup would cause. We'd definitely need a bunch of shooters off the bench though, because neither Wallace or Okafor can shoot a lick.

That's alright, you wouldn't need to score near as much. And while offense sometimes takes nights off, defense rarely slumps. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
Although I LOVE Okafor's game and intelligence and have since his UConn days, I believe trading Odom for Him would be a HUGE mistake. Yes he is a beast defensively. But the difference between him and Odom is far less than most fans seem to realize. Plus you would be throwing Kobe into a situation offensively where he would have to distribute even more than he is now. Okafur cannot create his own offense and is not a good passer. This move would eventually take its toll on Kobe as it would allow other teams to double and triple him at will. Unless you somehow follow this trade up with one that brings a Kidd-like player back ... no way I make this deal.

That is what you do, then you scrap the triangle and play a more conventional offense.
By the way, Bynum, Wallace, and Okafur had 13 blocks between the 3 of them tonight. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
