PostPosted: Thu Feb 08, 2007 2:10 pm    Post subject: Want to get out of a lease... HELP!!!

I currenty have a 2005 Infiniti g35 coupe which I leased in November of 2005 for a 43 month lease ( I think its 43 ).

Since then I got a job by LAX and my comute is horrible, 405 south and back up at 4pm. You could imagine how much fun it is with a stickshift car. I desperately want to get out of this lease but at the same time I don't want to be completely ripped off!! What can I do? Am I totally screwed ???

Proof that stickshift isn't everything.

I wonder if you could go back to the dealer and ask to switch to an auto car with comparable mileage off of their certified preowned lot.

Its not really about the stickshift, its everything... the gas, the payments... I want to save some money also. I feel so stuck!

theres only one thing to do to get out of a lease on a luxury....

you have to downgrade yourself.....AND I MEAN BIG downgrade.....IF and only if you dont want to lose money.... and dont lease next time... purchase for 5 years

im talking about the kimchi market... hyundai, daewoo, kia............

Yep, too late now but you lease for one of two reasons:

1. You're a business and it makes better tax sense to do so.

2. You want more car than you can afford.

Leases are -very- profitable for leasing companies, and since you're footing the bill, that makes them very unprofitable for you.

I'd say read your lease contract and see what's in there about early termination -- but be prepared for it to cost you.

Still may save you in the long run to just take the hit.

Buy certified pre-owned (< 25K miles).
Much cheaper insurance.
Pre-Depreciated.

I have the same car but I bought it. Personally, I would quit my job or move before ever getting rid of it. But I feel your frustration. Driving stickshift in traffic sucks. I find that it keeps me more focused on driving though. Especially at night when I'm tired. Anyway good luck.

Which reminds of the commute...

Anyone know the best routes to go home during rush hours from Santa Monica to the Arcadia area? It all seems bad these days.

This is why I don't live in or near LA, even though I could make even more cheddar by doing so...
Dealing with the traffic on a daily basis would turn me criminally insane after a few months...

I think i found a deal I could work with.

Mazda 3, $1000 down 420 a month. It may be a lot monthy wise for a Mazda 3 but I'm saving on insurance, gas and one more thing, TIRES!! $400 a piece for the G35 tires when they go in the next few months!

Moral of the story: Don't lease.

It makes sense for virtually no one.

Not true. For a second car or a car for your wife who only drives your kids to school and back it's ideal. Even more so for retirees who rarely drive but want something nice to cart around in. My grandmother leases new cars every 2 years and she never eclipses 5k miles in that time frame.

Just buy a used corola, civic, or anything that's reliable for like $3-$4k and use that to commute. Just an Idea.

^Novel idea.

Really, save yourself a financial headache.

'98 - '00 Corollas would just be a one-time fee of roughly $3k-$4k pending mileage and condition.
