Should I use a soap that's specific for that area? What type?
Should I use a sponge or simiar device?
How frequently should it be done?

Kind of girly but I use pore strips every now and then, I'm lazy when it comes to using a certain type of soap or sponge.
But there probably is some soap that helps not to clog the pores. _________________ That was Noiceeeee |

One of the things it took too long to learn. The skin on our face is much more delicate than the rest of the body, thus we have hand soap, bath soap and yes, face soap. Use face soap and my wife recommends Oil of Olay face wash. I run three to five miles everyday and thus have to bath and wash my hair twice daily sometimes. I use Neutrogena "Rainbath" for everything, even my shampoo and love the stuff. It can be hard to find. I get it at Costco in bulk when they have it.
Neutrogena Rainbath- citrus marine scent-Moisture Rich Shower & Bath Gel Cleans and Moisturizes Skin.

There are many things I wish I'd learned sooner. This is right up there with buying shoes, particularly running shoes, one size larger or more than your foot measures. I used to wear 11's and after losing everyone of my toe nails running marathon, I wnet big. I now wear 13's. |

Really? I didn't know that. I usually just wash my face with water in the shower, and sometimes I'll put the bar of soap on it. _________________ Double rings > Double rainbow |

, Certainley not. Skin care is very important, something u will appreciate when u get older. All kings of stuff available, ive tried some scrubs, some work some dont. Everyone skins is different, depends if uve got oily or dry skins, u really need too try everything, and definitely dont use regular soap on your face . |

*Yes I'm clueless |
1. Start with warm/hot water and splash it on your face....this opens the pores in your face.....the best thing is to actually have a steam on your face..or a warm towel that you leave on your face for a few minutes....this is the optimum.
2. Wash your face with a face soap. They have them in the men's cologne sections at the department stores. I like ZIRH and Anthony Logistics. Just rub it in with your hands and work it in for 30 seconds or so.
3. Wash this off with warm water again. This washes and cleans the pores.
4. Once a week use a scrub. Gel with microscopic beads that scruff off dead skin cells off your face. Face is shiny after this.
5. Wash face with cold water to close your pores again.
6. Apply some moisturizer....use one for the face since the pump bottle of vaseline next to your bed is likely going to clog your pores anyways. Again, this just helps your face retain moisture at night so your skin doesn't dry out.
7. You'll thank me when you don't have bad wrinkles like all those old dudes.
Again, this is the BEST way IMO. Is it necessary? No. But it doesn't take too long really and your face feels clean afterwards. Wash your face at morning and night and after you work out.
And don't use women's stuff, you'll smell like a woman. So no OIL OF OLAY. |

Is this for acne?
Anyway, the best thing to do is use a soap that has little or no fragrance and the least amount of chemical agents as possible. The one I use is by Johnson and Johnson it's called Clean and Clear, and it comes in one of those stand-up tubes. Clean & Clear makes various ones, but get the one that has no acne medication. It's just regular soap with small tiny little beads that's safe to use daily.
It's not really a scrub because the beads are really small. But it helps to clean out your pores.
Next, what I use is astringent + cotton balls. There is absolutely NO substitute for this to get all the oil/dirt out. It doesn't matter if you wash your face 10 times in a row, you still will not get all the dirt and oil out.
If you use astringent + cotton balls, you will see how much dirt and oil you get out. I think this is the single most important aspect of keeping a clean face and keeping acne from forming. By far.
Someone recommended you using a scrub once every week. It's a pretty good idea. Your face really does shine afterwards because of all the dead skin cells you got off. But this is mainly for aesthetic purposes and doesn't really help you in other areas.
It is a myth that you can get pores to open or close. Pores really just stay the same size. Some people are just born with bigger pores than others.
Also, a nice face lotion is key to keeping your face moist throughout the day and not looking as tired. Just one application in the morning is good enough.
In conclusion: I recommend that clean and clear soap, because it doesn't have all those unnecessary additives, and it has nice little beads. Astringent + cotton balls to really keep your face clean, and a nice lotion. |

actually dead skin cells can be just like dirt in clogging up your pores.
I've actually talked to medical esteticians (I've had some free facials at skin care clinics) and they use a steamer on your face for a few minutes to open the pores up. |

Sorry I meant to say that you can't get products that permanently make your pores bigger or smaller.
Of course hot water and steam DO open up pores that's why I think it's the best to wash your face in the shower. |

Lava Soap!
Seriously,.. I have really oily skin, so I use Clean and Clear by Johnson and Johnson (never soap) and Neutrogena Men Razor Defense Post Shave Lotion. That combo keeps the face tight and baby soft... |

Judging by some posts I'm reading in the Lounge and Trade forums, the first step of any helpful face washing instructions should probably be to remove it from your @#$ (Not you Zev!) _________________ “We must always take sides.
