NICE! Caught their "last" Battle of Los Angeles performance out at The Forum and it was awesome. I was wondering what had happened to Zack. He had come out with a single a while back produced by DJ Shadow. Don't think I heard anything from/about him after that.

RATM's best performance, in my opinion was outside Staples Center at the Democratic National Convention in '00.

That said, the opportunity for me to see Rage and the Chili Peppers at the same venue is a dream come true show.

This is great news.

for those that do go, where do you stay? Camp? Hotel? I just went up for the day and back down....we were so damn tired that we pulled into a Jack in the Box parking lot on the way home and slept for 3-4 hours........got back to LA at 6am, then to work at 9

heard it on kroq in the car and had to pull over. Im borderline obsessed with ratm. I was sooooooo devastated when Zack decided to split. I definitely don't care about audioslave. Sure they're doing well but imagine the crowd when ratm hits the stage. Could be a wake up call to Zack. I think when he decided to leave, he didn't realize how loyal his fans are and how much he has done for the community. I mean, for all of you that listen to kroq, they play more rage songs than audioslave.

coachella is an endurance test...but so worth it. a friend of mine has a house in the desert so we usually stay there. get a hotel if you can but get it soon because they get booked up. get it with a bunch of friends. they have campgrounds there but i wouldn't reccomend it since you probably won't 'get much sleep and you need all the energy you can. especially since the festival is three days this year instead of the normal two.

Wow. RATM & RHCP was enough to get me there, but I really want to see Silversun Pickups and I'm just intrigued enough by Regina Spektor to give her a chance.

I just hope I don't have to sit through the Lupe Fiascos of the lineup to get to the stuff I want to see.

oh man the best part about coachella is if you dont' wanna see a band...there are FOUR OTHER STAGES to check out. some of the most fun i've had is from checking out bands i've never heard of.

i've never heard silversun pickups. what album do you recommend i download?

One of the most under-rated musicians of all time. Or maybe just in the US, he's pretty big in lots of other parts of the world. If you have a chance to see him live - take it. Just an amazing performer. And check out his early band - Mano Negra.

Yeah i got a song from his earlier band Mano Negra called Guayaquil... Being from Ecuador i find that song simply amazing to what he says in the lyrics, haha...

Well, Carnavas has a song called 'Lazy Eye' that first got my attention. They're pretty mellow, but can get after it a little too.

And they're from the Silverlake area of LA, which automatically gets my interest.

4 stages, huh? Good. I don't want to have to sit through Julez Santana or some experimental washboard band to get to someone worthwhile.

I didn't see Andrew Bird on your first post either. Can't be sure how he'll translate to a show of this magnitude, but again, I'm liking him just enough to be interested in seeing him.

That line up is amazing....and if you are into DJ's/Progressive house, there are some awesome DJ's spinning in the tents it looks like.

I heard a runor over the weekend...and I am guessing it is just someones pipedream...but the story I heard was that The Police are reunited for a surprise reunion at this years Coachella.

anyone else hear this?

yup. im rooting for this with every fiber of my being. last year they added madonna and kanye west about 2 weeks before the show. those were arguably the biggest names at the festival so if they add smashing pumpkins and police before the show....it wouldn't be out of the question. god i cant wait.

I'm not entirely familiar with this show (except for the tales of woe regarding parking and prices), but didn't Coheed & Cambria play this last year or the year before?

I saw them do an acoustic set Saturday evening and absolutely loved it. The signer (Claudio Sanchez) has a voice that is a bit startling when you first hear and see him, but I think it adds to the appeal for me. And by startling I mean like when you first heard David Beckham or Mike Tyson talk. Now imagine them taking a big hit of the helium tank. Now imagine them singing.

Anyway, I was kinda bummed not to see them on the lineup this year.
