When I lived there my car was broken into multiple times. Once in fact they destroyed my gas tank cover in an effort so siphon gas. My BMX bike was also stolen.

And now mom's car has been broken into.

Is the condo association doing anything to step up security? That's what HOA is for...

Garage?... how do they get in?
...or is it more like a parking structure/carport?
That sucks... hope he gets caught.

My bro.-in-law's car's passenger window was smashed in our carport just for CDs and some change.

That sucks dude. Your parents need to push the association to spend that HOA money on things like cameras or fences or a security guard or something...

The HOA needs to take the issue seriously. If they don't, what you need to do is elect a new Board at the next annual meeting. When you say they aren't doing anything, give some more detail. How aware are they of the problem, what has been discussed/proposed, how have they voted on those items, etc?

Though realize the HOA can't solve this on their own. This is a criminal issue, which means the police need to be involved too. What are they doing?

Damn right. Your parents could always run to try to get themselves on the board too and just take control of the situation.

Or you could break into some of their cars so they get the point. . Totally kidding...

They've done that in the past. Basically its just too much of a hassle and they're trying to enjoy their retirement.

Just put a sign up that says there's now a hidden camera taping all action in the garage.

You don't really need an actual camera (afterall, it's "hidden") - the sign alone usually does the trick.

Just make a cute sign - "Smile! You're now being tapped!"
Something like that.

Report it to the POlice and tell them this been happening alot, so they'll send a patrol car there more frequently. If that doesn't work, buy a gun.

Plant a decoy. Camp out and stalk them like the patient, yet unforgiving leopard. When the time is right. Kill thy prey and drag them back to your domain and let them rot like the fungus they are. Of course, that's after you've had your fill. No one will ever know.

"You're now being being tapped"
I almost crapped myself. Oh no, wait....I think I did.

Seriously Zev, you got alarms installed? Many other neighbors with the same issue?

We've recently being getting a rash of thieves breaking into car in my neighborhood. My brother-in-law had his vehicle broken and stole wallet, cd's & ipod. There's some HS kids next door who hang out front very late. I had a chat with him this weekend and said, "i'm not accusing you of anything, but you tell your friends I'll knock their teeth in if I even see them looking at any of my belongings." I have a good feeling he'll relay the message.
