What about Herbert Hill? Swats, 12-foot J, good hands, good passer from the post, good finisher, blue-collar attitude. Main weakness? No real low post game outside of a jump hook and tendency for foul trouble.

You think he's worth the 2nd pick? Or is he just redundant with Ronny already in the mix? You can never have too many big men IMO.

Almost sounds exactly like Marcus Douthit all over again, though Hill has better work ethic.

It's not so much you can never have too many bigmen. You can never have too many quality bigmen.

Personally, I"d rather afford Turiaf the PT. He's truly deserved it.

Mike, if Splitter fell to the lakers would you take him?

I'd have to see individual workouts. I get the feeling like Splitter is the higher IQ but skinnier version of Kwame right now. Defensive minded, but has a sense of what to do in order to complete the play.

That being said, I also think there are higher impact wing players where the Lakers pick.

I'd feel different if there was a consistent anchor at both ends of the floor at PF or C.

Well I like him more than Kwame because he's a lot more active offensively and much more smarter with the ball. Can't finish as strong as Kwame, but he has a softer touch. It would give us the insurance to trade kwame which would be nice, but splitter won't fall we'd have to trade up I think.

Please no Splitter for us man... I'm Brazilian and I watch him play for the National Team often...dude has NO HEART whatsoever, and totally disappears on the clutch... if any Brazilian, I want Marcelo Huertas.

Funny, Brewer is actually more refined offensively.

You can only improve your handle a little bit, and with Brewer's lack of handle right now, he will never be able to become a consistent offensive player.

Correct assumption on Splitter, Mike. Maybe a better comparison would be a more PF-oriented Verejao, as both players are very effective on both sides of the ball, nor do they need the ball in their hands offensively to make plays.

Right, because VC really has that great a handle and is inconsistent. Same for Corey Maggette. Same for Carmelo Anthony. Same for Scottie Pippen. Same for Michael Redd. Same for Dirk Nowitzki. Same for Kevin Martin. Same for Josh Howard. Same for Rip Hamilton. Same for Barbosa. Same for Marion.

Those guys' handles aren't great, but they're still way better than Brewer's.

Disagree. Most of the listed guys can't dribble more than twice with either the left or right hand.

The difference is the length and athletic ability, both Brewer have in spades.

Jutst listed roughly 10 guys who are pretty damn consistent in terms of scoring even if they're barely above average ball-handlers.

This isn't Devean GEorge we're talking about.

Is that how you see Rush's handle as well? I understand he isn't exactly a wizard with the ball, but maybe he can be a Josh Howard type player?

He's precisely along those lines. Rush dribbles too high and doesn't change direction well. At least Josh Howard kept it low before entering the NBA.

Thaddeus Young declares without hiring an agent. Seems he will stay only if he gets a lottery promise.

More on Thad Young's draft status:

Quote:
Young doesn't plan to immediately hire an agent, so he could return to Georgia Tech if he maintains his amateur status and withdraws from consideration by the June 18 deadline. However, the sources added, Young fully intends to remain in the draft as long as he's projected as a first-round pick, which he'll almost certainly be barring a fluke injury.

From this latest report, it doesn't look like he requires an assurance from a lottery team.
