So we're gonna get a FA big-man cool. |
Maybe we could get Webber, he did great for Detroit last yaer and would be nice off the bench. He may be slow but he could still pass and make a mid range jumper. |

Per Money KLAC he's taking a physical in San Antonio tonight, in hopes of possibly joining the team tomorrow for the game vs. Milwaukee. _________________ |D||O| |I||T| |R||O||B| |

Great Move, Ariza is a legit 2 way player- I really like his game, he is very very good on D, very disruptive. Cook is a one way player as we all know and I was disappointed in Evan's D.
Now just get to work on that Kwme for Artest deal!

Wow another case in point to demonstrate that the Laker players are not worthless.
For years now you bring up Cook in a trade and the answer would be he is worthless and no other team in the league would be interested.
Whala, the Laker acquire the 6-8 Trevor Ariza who at just 21 years of age last year put up the following stats:
mpg 22 fg% 54 rpg 4.4 ppg 8.9
Not to shabby but....
My only problem is that the Laker don't need a small forward, they need a power forward????
However if Ariza can handle some playing time in the backcourt like Evans then it makes more sense.
I something else boiling in the pot??? _________________ Rule = win titles

emplay -
From what I've seen at the various trade-checkers a deal of Cook for Ariza wouldn't be possible due to Cook's BYC status. |

Good move.
Lakers needed an athletic since forever. I am not suprised at Evans being traded, for 2 reasons.
1- The Lakers need to give Crittenton minutes at backup 2 because the way Farmar is playing he won't get it at 1. As well as Critt, since George Karl is Jimmy Buss' aquisition, this just further shows that he is in power. Karl needs PT at backup 2, and has no real other position the Lakers can give him some burn at.
2- Apparently Mo thought he would be Jordan on this team or atleast played like it and was a bad chemistry guy (look at his reactions on the bench, most of the time he seems like he could careless)
Cook was redundant with Vlad, but I will say the Lakers have given up quite a bit for Ariza. However Ariza I know from his ability in New York and Orlando early days. This is when I had my eye on him.
Lakers roster is more balanced now. We finally have someone to put on the Melo's, Lebron's etc. We needed a super athletic wing. Ariza fits that.
Bynum, Mihm, Brown
Turiaf, Odom, Radmanovic
Odom, Walton, Ariza
Bryant, Crittenton, Karl
Farmar, Fisher, Vujacic
I actually think this is a trade that helps both teams. Howard with Cook+Lewis? That will only further help that team spacing wise + Mo gives them much needed depth off bench. |

This basically puts Rad at PF and leaves one roster spot open for another PF. I hoping that spot will be filled either through trade or by Chris Webber or PJ Brown. With Kwame out, we only have three big men - Ronny, Mihm, and Bynum. I would expect us to pick up another big VERY soon. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

Yaayyyy Mitch....thata boy. I know some may think I'm lying, but when I was watching Hornets vs Magic, I was thinking a Mo for Ariza trade cause Orlando needs an defensive SG/SF while Trevor would help us out instead of being anchored to the Magic bench. Getting ridding of Super Tough Brian Cook is gravy. Mitchell is indeed G.O.D!!! |

I like this deal. No more Brian Cook and I laughed at the Magic's GM statement about Cook adding toughness to the Magic.
I'll miss DancingBarry's Cold/Hot Mo reports though... |

Here are his stats from his break out year with the Magic - he was part of the Francis trade.
22.4 minutes 8.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG 1.0 Steals 1.1 APG & .3 BPG. 54% FG
He is very very athletic, 6'8" with a good wing span and only 22 years old.
Agree with the Wolfie- this should open up some time for Critt at the 2 and I am sure that ariza could play some spot minutes at the four and the two. Just having a really good defender at SF will help considering we have Luke & Vlade already who don't play much D.
Also agreed that Vlade is the way better version of Cook, 6'10" 3 point chucker- BUT Vlade actually has some skills and athleticism. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss

As well as all of the above it also reduces the roster to the 14 that the Laker FO prefered to have in order to be able to pick up a free agent at mid-season if one becomes available. _________________ Rule = win titles

If Kwame is out for the season, maybe.
Else I think Lamar plays 4 later on in games, anyway. Turiaf, Odom and Radmanovic is enough at the PF spot, especially with the way they have been playing. What I think we could use is a Center, if Kwame is out for the season. A really big body that can take up 6 fouls. Don't want those fouls being taken by Bynum.
One of the things that I don't want to bring up, but want to just because I think it has some connection - this makes a Kobe trade easier roster wise. If the Lakers traded Kobe for 3 or 4 players before this trade, they have to waive 2-3 players. Now they have only 13 guaranteed contracts, with a Karl not guaranteed until January. You waive Sasha, then you have 12 and can take on 3 extra players from the other team. A Kobe for 3-4 players trade becomes much easier now. |

Finally someone alse that can defend, other than Kobe.
He is going to defend the other teams best player, so Kobe can be Kobe!
a little mix of Trevor Ariza.
Enjoy

You think there is more to come? Would that not be great? Webber- well if we could rent him for a year or 2. After seeing PJ in the playoffs last season, I think that he might have some fumes left in the tank. It would go a long way to making he roster older and more experienced.
And amazing how there was nothing on the radar about this trade, and poof, there it is! That is how it always goes, the ones you hear about never happen. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

I really like the trade
Cook cannot guard anyone and the ball stalled a lot this year in Mo's hands.
Good trade. |

Good deal, seems to be a predecessor to something else. Cook was redundant with Vlad and Evans never really impressed. I like the defense Ariza adds, which means the Lakers are serious about winning with Defense.
The curious part is that with Kwame down, and Turiaf just coming back, we give a PF, that is why it looks like a predecessor to something else. Either way, I like the deal. |
