Reasonable Doubt... and initially I wasn't 'feeling' the album... about 5 years after its release did I realize how good this album was... Jay's best IMO.
The Chronic was dope... one of my favs
Get Rich or Die Trying... I thought he was better on his mix tapes... never was really a fan
Ready To Die.... Dope album... but I like the remixes to Big Poppa, & One More Chance way better than the album versions.... Who Shot Ya?, enuff said... and I hate Juicy to this day.
Life After Death... Dope album, but I hated Hypnotize.
Slim Shady.... good album, but I felt it was gimmicky... something I might play to shock somebody, but for me it wasn't music to ride to... you know what I mean...

Wu-Tang Clan - 36 Chambers
X-Clan - To the East, Blackwards
Digable Planets - Reachin (A New Refutation of Time and Space)

Why is excrement like 50 Cent on the list? The answer is "The Chronic."
"Get Rich or Die Tryin' is a CLASSIC... 13x platinum. Nuff said.
Im not saying Get Rich or Die Trying is a bad album, but just because an album sells 13x platinum doesnt make it a classic album. All that tells me is there are a lot of 12 and 13 year olds buying it.

I highly doubt that the 13 million people who bought that album can relate.

no way did it sell 13 million albums because "people relate to it." It sold 13 million albums because of this

record sales have become an irrelevant source of justifying one's skill, talent, buzz and over authenticity towards his specific genre
i personally know about 80% more white kids who bought get rich or die trying than blacks, hispanics, asian, etc... combined
and i can guarantee that the albums content is a 180 to their lifestyle
dead prez - lets get free is still an unappreciated gem of hiphop
Dead Prez is way too hard for some people.
Love the track Animal in Man. Came out around the time I was reading Animal Farm.
i remember buying that album in 2000, freshman in high school... i was immediately hooked after i heard "they schools" cause these lyrics
"I took a history class serious
Front row, every day of the week, 3rd period"
"I tried to pay attention but they classes wasnt interestin
They seemed to only glorify the europeans
Claimin africans were only three-fifths a human being"
I in fact had history 3rd period with a European teacher who covered black history for 2 weeks of the year. So those lyrics quickly hit.
