They have a private charter that takes off from LAX at Imperial. No, you can't just go up and see them, there's a heavy police presence whenever they take off and land.

I'm from San Diego and I'm driving up Wed. morning with a bunch of friends for the Lakers' parade. What is the best choice, to watch the parade along Figueroa or to get seats in the Coliseum?

Heres what I would suggest.

Don't drive into downtown. Park along the Blueline Metro train path, which runs from downtown Long Beach to Union Station. It will drop you off right in front of Staples Center. You can cruise around the parade rout on foot, even follow it to the Colosseum, and then when it's over, you take the train back to your car.

All of the train stations have 'park and ride" lots.

After last night, my advice is to get one of these:

Of course my advice is worth what it costs!

It's quite far. I would advise taking the Red Line from Union, then get off on the 3rd stop which is 7th & Metro, then go upstairs and transfer to the Blue Line and stop in front of Staples. Overall time should be about 10-15 min.

If I were you I'd go to the rally at the Coliseum...just to avoid the madness and traffic that will be all in the downtown/staples center area. You can always park a few blocks down close by the Coliseum off of King Blvd.

I responded to your post in the parade advice thread. Which city are you coming from?

I'm going to be on foot...can I see the guys go by on the bus, and then get into the Coliseum as well, or do they close the gates of the stadium at a certain point? Is it free? I'd like to do both if possible.

Here's a piece of advice. If you call in sick to go to the parade, make sure you don't do one of those man on the street interviews on local TV.

Ha!

I make it a personal policy to not (bleep) my boss or girlfriend. Makes life a lot easier. I told him straight out that I want to go to the parade, and I'll make sure that my desk is squared away before I go. He was cool with that.

Get a map of USC's location and park north of the campus. The campus sits between the Staple center and the Coliseum.

Is the parade starting at Staples or the Colliseum? In the past it always ended at Staples. Is it the other way around this year?

Most of the articles I read are saying it starts at Staples and ends at the Coliseum.

This is probably your best bet since it ends at the Coliseum this year. You can also try to park Rodeo or even of Western and walk to the Coliseum

Anyone know when the parade will end? I have an exam that starts at 11 (sucks!) and ends at 1 at USC. I'm tempted to just gun through the exam but unfortunately the class isn't curved, so I guess I'll have to try to run over to the Colliseum afterwards.

The parade starts at the Staples Center and it ends with a rally at the Coliseum...IMO might be easier to go to the latter
