Hachimura's defense has been stepping up and more engaged since he came back from his DNP

That is based on Rui's effort. When his motor is on, he gets minutes.

I agree but I think matchups are also a factor: Rui can't be relied upon to defend the rim at all plus he's more effective defending slower players in general.

maybe it worked?

It's almost like maybe the coach/former NBA player knows more about basketball and coaching it than people on the internet.

Alien body type. 6'8" with 7'2" wingspan. Doesn't seem to have a lot of twitch, but runs the floor and has a strong core, plus scores with both hands. I *wanted* him to be another Cliff Robinson, but he's not quite that level of athlete.

Beasley is the only player I don’t care if we get him to stay. Rui DLo Vando and in a limited amount of time Mo have earned their stay.

The Minny game was definitely encouraging. I think he was always tabbed as a non-factor on defense, neutral at best. The scouting reports had him at his best defending at the 4 and that 'wing" is a mischaracterization but the analytics had him doing his best work as a 3. I'd like to see how he does against the true wings out there. I know the position-less advocates will perk up at those comments though. At the very least, even if we have a 4 that can be a plus on D and keep defenders occupied on the other end then we certainly have a keeper. His mid-range is legit and he does seem to have knack for timely cuts to the basket; I just wish he'd do it more consistenly.

I mean Hachimura's defensive effort definitely did step up after the DNP he had, so maybe that is something that worked. Getting Hachimura to dedicate a lot of his focus to defense is a great idea in all honesty. He has a solid mid range and a semi-reliable three. But he has loads of potential in the defensive end. So focusing on that is a great idea.

People don't want to make Kawhi comparisons, and that's a good idea, so I'll just say Hachimura has all the potential in the world to be one of the better defenders in the league at his position and some positions beyond his position.

The guy has the build and a lot of the tools. Just needs to put it together and be engaged at all times.

When Rui plays defense like he’s done these last 3 games in a row, this team is unstoppable!

20 points (10-14) 12 rebounds 4 blocks (2 of those blocks were dunk attempts) and a +22 in the game!

The story behind that is the first few weeks Rui was on the team, for some reason, it was the only picture you could find with Rui in a Laker uniform, and people just kept posting that image.

NOW, that's the only image we will accept of Rui. It's great.

Yes seriously. I think this group can develop Rui to his full potential. Dude is a tank with a great rid range touch. I also really want more looks for him like this going forward.
