When we lost Hart I was really kind of disappointing because I was thinking he is perfect role player from the bench. But now I am happy to have Caruso off the bench.
Really perfect player to have.Smart, unselfish , always looking teammates and above average defender.
Dont know his contract but he need to be priority on summer after AD.
TBH he reminds me the most of D Fish. He was also great defender, smart and great teammate.
Also like DFish he is not afraid of the moment. Having Caruso I really dont care anymore about Rondo. Caruso should have his minutes anyway.
lol I love that there's a highlight of Caruso aggressively ICEing a PnR and then still beating his man to a spot to take the charge. Straight up coach porn right there.
You can see his real talent here: his quick reaction time. When he's at his best he's moving decisively, with purpose, but can adjust to changing conditions instinctively. He can be a real chaos agent out there while still remaining fundamentally sound, which is a great combo for AD who's quite similar on defense in that way.
Shout out to KCP for his help rotations here, too. _________________ Under New Management
Thanks for sharing. VERY IMPRESSIVE. The kid can care less who he is guarding. He switches off and takes on bigger, stronger, more athletic players and never goes fetal like most defenders. He really is the ultimate pest and its difficult to put a price on the value he brings to the team.
Ok guys... we all love AC but let’s temper this a bit. Should he get more minutes? Absolutely. However don’t come in here with the +- numbers and say we’d be a lock for the title if we just play him more. You have to remember what AC is first and foremost: high energy guy. He’s a spark plug and usually he’s in their with Lebron which means a lot of his +- is due to Lebron’s presence. Extend those minutes and you may or may not see those energy bursts. I think the best way to handle this is plug him in when the team is showing signs of losing their edge on D. He ignites the other guys with his play and then you bring him out. He can’t really be effective unless he’s playing most of his minutes with Lebron and they have to be high energy minutes otherwise he’s a liability on offense from the scoring perspective. _________________ RIP Kobe and Gigi <333

We have no idea what the upper bound is on his performance with more minutes. Isn't it worth seeing a few times at least in order to prove your hypothesis? _________________ Under New Management

Or he could turn into Jeremy Lin, lose his confidence, fans turn on him and he disappears into the ether. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant
According to FiveThirtyEight, Alex Caruso has the best overall defensive rating of any PG this season. Also, ranked Top 10 among players — regardless of position — in defensive rating according to NBA.com.

And then he could get hit by the team plane and eaten by 30-50 feral hogs. _________________ Under New Management

I know this is the Caruso thread, but KCP looks like a whole new man out there compared to the last two seasons. Not sure what prompted the change, but more, please.
Could anyone have guessed before the season that we'd be calling for Caruso and KCP to fill two of the three crunch time spots alongside Bron and AD??

I think this speaks to the team atmosphere Bron and Cousins and AD and Rondo and Dudley and Green and Dwight and Javalee etc bring

Lin had some skill and is a nice guy, but he just seemed mentally fragile. Seemed to crumble when Kobe (and BScott) criticized him. AC doesn't seem nearly as sensitive. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

the Lakers outscoring their opponents by more than a point per minute with Caruso on the floor.
n his 972 total minutes, the Lakers have outscored their opponents by 12.2 points per 100 possessions, the *third best on-court NetRtg mark among non-Bucks who have averaged at least 15 minutes in 30 games or more.
