What's the scouting report on his guarding wings and bigger guards? I always had him more as a PF defender.

For some reason, I see him playing half his minutes at power forward haha.

When I look at these signings, I think to the fact that we’re probably going to see a lot of load management from LeBron James so it’s good that we have players that play that position that are actually quality

We do need to address the center position

He’s really more of a wing and guards there well. He’s got some bulk a la Rui that lets him guard at four but he’s small there. You’re probably confused since it’s been a few years since we had an actual 3…

Can Prince effectively guard a guy like Jamal Murray, or guys like Beal, Booker or Jaylen Brown?

As well as most guys, it depends on your definition of effectively lol. No one can really shut down guys like that.

he's the same height, weight, and wingspan as tbj with a much worse rebounding and turnover rate. i don't see how this is an upgrade

Of course you can't shut down guys like that. I'm talking about containing them and lowering their shooting percentages, taking away their preferred moves and that kind of thing.

It might just be a lateral moved. Which isn't a bad thing.
The money is pretty close too.
Prince does have a slight edge on wide open 3s and catch and shoot 3 % wise. Slight.

Great news then. Can see Ham starting either him, Rui, or Vando at the other forward spot depending on the matchup and of course getting a lot of minutes altogether with Lebron's load managing.

Prince is an inch taller with an inch longer wingspan per combine measurements. TBJ had an outlier shooting year playing off LeBron and AD. We’ll have to see how he does in Minnesota.

Prince is a career 37% three point shooter playing on mostly bad teams. Curious to see how he does getting the same looks as Brown got in LA.

Brown also likes to guard down a position. Prince guards up a position. That’s another difference. Whether that’s a better fit for what the Lakers need remains to be seen.

All the comments I've seen from Wolves fans are they are disappointed to lose him.

We will definitely playing a lot of 3 wing lineups now. Using small ball. Vanderbilt, Rui and Prince all in the same lineup when AD sits. Unlikely we opt to play a Center, instead we'll use more small ball approach.

It works defensively even if you run solid schemes in the RS. Where it hurts you is in specic match ups in the playoffs where teams can milk mismatches and expose certain weaknesses.

Overall I think when you look at Prince, he's listed as more of a 4 than a 3/2, and he has 3 point range. Seems like someone they feel can give them minutes next to AD, something Vanderbilt's lack of 3 point shot hurts.

Simple answer is no. There is a reason he was available day 1 for basically the min. Could make an argument that Cam has the skills and athleticism to be that guy but he has yet to show the talent to do it. As of now, we still don’t have that defender on this roster (IE a Alec C, Okogie, Matisse) etc that rated out as one of the better on ball defenders. We have a little more size across the 2/3 spots than we did last year but none of them I would consider quality defender

Both these guys are actually 6'6" with no sneakers on and are pretty much
the same player. Bright lights will probably level the 3 pt shooting.

I had no problem with a defensive minded TBJ and have no problem with Prince.

In the end this move is a wash, Prince being older of the two.

While that's the most likely outcome I think there's a chance that Prince can be a tad better fit due to his veteran savvy and greater consistency - especially when it comes to the playoffs.
