Cody is one reason this team hasn’t done better with situational hitting over the years. Way too many strikeouts and popups in big moments. That should have been an easy walk. Make the pitcher have to throw you strikes. Can’t have those types of at-bats in the playoffs.

Makes me wonder what type of contract he will get in the future and we definitely shouldn’t give him a huge one.

If he doesn’t improve this yr and next yr, I think something like 2 yrs $35-40M (around .700 ops).

If he puts up .800+ ops this yr n next, with his stellar defense, I’d say 4 yrs $100M.

.900+ ops this yr and next yr, I’d say Kris Bryant money - 5 yrs $170M.

Above .950 ops both yrs and he’ll get Seager money

Oh hey Smith is sitting again. Better give him a break after those 2 straight days catching. Rest those weary old bones.

On pace for 119 games. Caught 130 last year. I was really hoping we’d take advantage of the DH to keep his bat in the lineup. He’s like our fourth best hitter at worst and he’s playing way less. I’m perplexed to say the least.

Edit: Muncy batting cleanup with a bum elbow too. Some reporter really needs to put Roberts on blast over this negligence.

Smith probably isn't 100%.

DH is perfect then. If he’s not 100% but still better than most of our team, have to keep the bat in the lineup.

He just went 3/4 and his line against Gibson in 5pa is .667 .800 1.667 with 2 walks and a homer

I mean, its early May. If he's not 100%, there's no reason to push him. I get that each game matters, but you also don't want to be pushing things.

Yeah, I know. But we said that last year and it cost us down the stretch. And we just lost series against teams we shouldn’t.

Hope it works out tonight

Will Smith is available tonight, Dave Roberts said. Part of managing his pectoral issue. He will DH tomorrow and catch three in a row after that, Roberts said.

Buehler should start hanging zeroes, now that he's got the lead.

So Barnes is hitting over .250? That looks pretty decent to me after seeing what some other guys are hitting.

Kershaw was supposed to start tonight and I assume Buehler was scheduled for tomorrow until the news of the injury. Buehler most likely looks closer to his normal self if he was starting tomorrow.

Dodgers should take note on how to hit with the bases loaded and nobody out.

A good team should not give up 10 runs per game.

Remember when we used to lead the majors in HRs?

Those days are long gone. Now, our HR leaders are Betts and Bellinger at 5 apiece.

That's on pace for 26 HRs each. If we're not going to hit HRs, there's no point in waiting for the 3 run HR. Might as well get more aggressive on the bases.
